marbles
Was wondering what everyone's fav films were? Along with reading books, watching films are my favourite past time! I love many films, although my all time favourite would probably have to be A Time to Kill. I also love: The Godfather The Usual Suspects Shawshank Redemption The Notebook The Lake House A Bronx Tale Murder in the First City of Angels In fact, there are so many, I couldn't possibly name them all so I'll stop there! The ones above are a very short selection and I have many more I prefer to those...
Kell
I kinda love old films, so among my favourites are: Bell, Book and Candle (1) * Arsenic and Old Lace (2) The Philadelphia Story (2) Bringing Up Baby (2) His Girl Friday (2) Harvey (1) Vertigo (1) * Rope (1) Rear Window (1) (1) Starring James Stewart - one of my all-time favourite actors (2) Starring Cary Grant - my other all-time favourite actor * Starring Kim Novak - my all-time favourite actress There are a couple of modern classics I adore too - they are just so sumptuous: Dangerous Liaisons (3) Valmont (3) Amadeus (3) Both are versions of Les Liaisons Dangereuses, which I plan on reading at some point! And I'm also very much an 80s film fan: The Sure Thing The Breakfast Club Ferris Beueller's Day Off
~Andrea~
Arsenic and Old Lace Oh that's one of my all time favourites. Absolutely hilarious! I'm also a big hitchcock fan. I love Rear window and psycho. There's another really good Cary grant one where he works in a shoe shop (or is dating someone in a shoe shop) but I don't know the name of it. One of my all time fave films is the Wizard of Oz with Judy Garland. other faves are: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind Memento Being John Malkovich Oh and about a million others but that's all I can think of right now. NiceguyEddie
Being John Malkovich Wasn't that a great film. There's another much neglected classic starring wossisname - Grosse Point Blanc. He plays a hitman being persued by Dan Akroyd. Very funny & a great soundtrack.
wrathofkublakhan
Tough call. Sometimes my favorites are simply my most recent - I loved the movie Hairspray that came out this week. I was an Instant Fan and bought the soundtrack too! All Time Favorites: To Kill A Mockingbird The Wizard Of Oz The Quiet Man Hoosiers Bull Durham Shawshank Redemption I can go nuts sometimes and just follow an actor (Gene Hackman, for example) or a director (Stanley Kubrick) or even a genre (film noir or kung fu) and just steep myself in someone who is brimming with talent or some oddity in film making - I think they call it "wire fu" now, all that martial arts in the air. Finally, thanks to cable television - they play movies over and over again so I'll watch something that may not be great but just easy to access while I'm reading. Such as: Freaky Friday The Parent Trap You've Got Mail Forrest Gump Big Y'know, I could make a list of just Tom Hanks movies!
Sedge
A few of my favourites are: The Matrix Reloaded Ghostbusters Gremlins The Lost Boys The Goonies but far and away the best I consider to be The Green Mile.
Kell
Freaky Friday The Parent Trap The originals or the remakes? (the original The Parent Trap was on TV at the weekend and I watched part of it again - I love that film! Also love the original Freaky Friday).
