Kylie
Hi Vampirebloom and welcome to the forum! We did a Vampires comparative reading circle last year. The books chosen were Dracula by Bram Stoker and Carmilla by J Sheridan LeFanu. Have you read them both? Feel free to add your thoughts to the threads here. Kell
If you like any supernatural creatues, you may well LOVE Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld books. Start with Bitten (which stars the world's only female werewolf). Hope you enjoy it here.

Guest Sedgewick
Start with Bitten (which stars the world's only female werewolf). The world's only female werewolf in 'Bitten' or in fiction overall? Only because Kit Whitfield's 'Bareback' would have something to say were it the latter.

According to amazon, that book was written in 2006, which means that Bitten was written before that - so Kell's comment probably comes from a time when Bitten was first published. Guest Sedgewick
Kell's comment probably comes from a time when Bitten was first published. I be confused. The comment had 'Today' next to it. Anyway, there was a novel called The Howling by Gary Brandner, which dates back - after a quick wikicheck - to 1977. There were female werewolves in that. But I find out, via another check, that it was the former, and that the female werewolf thing relates to Bitten alone, rather than the history of female werewolves in fiction. Case closed. My comment refers to the Women of the Otherworld series where, in that version of the world, there is only one female werewolf - she is called Elena Michaels. I was not referring to female werewolves never having previously been included in other novels.
