Freewheeling Andy Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 http://wetellstories.co.uk/stories/week1/ I'm not sure that the story is any good, but the concept is fantastic for those of us who are map geeks. And there are more of these to come (I don't know if they use the same techniques). Quote
Purple Poppy Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Remind me not to click onto any more links from you, Andy. I have just been totally absorbed for the last hour, fascinated by the active map and quite enjoying the story. Certainly a change from my usual 'read' Thanks for the link. Pp Quote
JudyB Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 I was looking at this last night there are two other 'digital stories'. Did you know it is part of a competition to win a library of 1300 penguin books - my eldest was trying to persuade me to enter but the competition rules do mention that it amounts to 25 metres of books and that entrants therefore need to consider where they would be kept. ~V~ Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 It's so cool. I'm only on Chapter 9 at the moment though Quote
~V~ Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 I don't get it. Why is it so great? It's easier reading a story by turning pages in a book rather than clicking on arrows to be fed one or two sentences at a time. It's no way better than a book. But it's different and interesting, but I couldn't see it working for anything other than a short. The stories are dreadful (so far) though. Quote
Kell Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 I noly clicked a few times and realised I was only getting a couple of sentences at a time which I found annoying. I know I have trouble reading lots of text on ascreen, but maybe a paragraph or two would have been OK for me. I didn't bother after that as I knew I'd get sick of clicking every couple of seconds just to get to the next sentence. It's certainly very clever, but gimme a good book any time. Quote
Echo Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 I honestly didn't like this much. It actually hurt my eyes! I'll stick to my regular books. They're....safer. Quote
shadow Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 I noly clicked a few times and realised I was only getting a couple of sentences at a time which I found annoying. It actually hurt my eyes! Gave me a headache... Quote
Freewheeling Andy Posted April 8, 2008 Author Posted April 8, 2008 Hah! I didn't say the story was any good. I just like it as a way of telling a story. But then, I am a map geek. Quote
