KEV67 Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 I have started reading this. I wonder whether it was the book the Rolling Stones song Sympathy for the Devil was about. Not massively gripped so far. Quote
KEV67 Posted December 26, 2023 Author Posted December 26, 2023 Spoiler It's still a bore fest. More than half to go before I can say I read it. Quote
France Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 I've read ,it twice, once when I was about 18 then about 7 years ago for a book club and enjoyed it enormously. I must admit though that having an incredibly well-read Russian leading the book club discussion was a huge bonus as she could explain the background to the satire etc. Quote

It just seems like a lot of random stuff happening. It reminds me a bit of One Hundred Years of Solitude, which was another book I did not like. I expect experts on Columbian history would have got it, but not me. Quote
KEV67 Posted January 11, 2024 Author Posted January 11, 2024 Finished the snorefest this morning. Still, some of the TV and film adaptions look interesting, what with all the nudity. Quote
