Part of the desire to keep reading is to see him destroy the creatures that ruined his life. The other is hoping that he will overcome his emotional scars and be able to connect with people again. The biggest drawback from me is that the characters all have generic names. The writer wrote it as if it was taking place in the world of dungeons and dragons or so I've heard. It's hard to take dialogue seriously when it's coming from someone named Cow Girl. I'm reading the year one series right now that gives some backstory on the characters.
