marti28 Posted October 25, 2022 Posted October 25, 2022 HELLO EVERYONE! 😃 I'm new here, wanted to start with some advice on a good English book. I have read a lot in my native language so far, but I want to combine business with pleasure and improve my language skills. I like dramas and action books, but I can start with any kind. I am interested in simple language and an interesting plot. Which books can you recommend for beginners like me? Thank you for any advice and responses!😁 Quote
KEV67 Posted October 25, 2022 Posted October 25, 2022 You could try Watership Down by Richard Adams. I read it many times as a boy. It is about a band of rabbits that leave their warren to find a new home. You could try I Claudius by Robert Graves. It is a supposed to be a memoir by the Roman Emperor Claudius. Maybe something by Raymond Chandler, e.g. The Lady in the Lake. All his books are quite similar. They are about a tough American private detective in 1930s Los Angeles. The plots often involve a beautiful, scheming woman and some big, tough gangsters. 1 Quote
