madcow
I have now started A Small Part of History by Peggy Elliott, the free book from Headline Publishers for pre publication review. I have found it easy to read so far. It has caught my interest too because I am awaiting the start of the big adventure into the West!! I really enjoyed this one supergran, hope you do too. supergran71
I am getting on with this book very well and enjoying it. It is very easy to read. My only criticism at this stage is that it lacks depth a little, but this may well improve as the wagon train gets off into the unknown and things start to go wrong;)
supergran71
I have finished reading A Small Part of History and will do a review later. I am not sure what book is next. I am faced with a book Nici has asked me to review which I am going to cry buckets over, title Lost and Found by Jacqueline Sheehan; The House at Riverton by Kate Morton; and Helpless book from Newbooks; These are all at the top of my TBR pile. Decisions, decisions.
supergran71
Started The House at Riverton last night, but I was so dog tired I only read a couple of pages.

supergran71
It was an easy read, I will do a review later. I said at the beginning that it seemed to lack depth and I had hopes that would improve. It didnt:roll:
nursenblack
Started The House at Riverton last night, Oh, I have wanted to order that, but haven't yet. Maybe I'll wait till you tell us if it was a hit or miss.
Kate
I enjoyed The House at Riverton, but I did find it a touch slow-going at some points
supergran71
Progressing with The House of Riverton okay, it reads well so far, but I have to keep my wits about me
supergran71
Got to get through The House at Riverton first Laura, then Lost and Found, then The Book of Lost Things, not to mention Emma, the next Jane Austen book.
Kate
How are you doing with The House At Riverton?
supergran71
Good Kate, although I keep getting interrupted and as the chapters are so long I have to work hard to pick the thread up if I stop in the middle of a chapter. I actually love this period, between the wars, some of the toffs were quite depraved
supergran71
I am more than half way through The House at Riverton and I am really enjoying it. As someone else has said, its like "Upstairs Downstair", and provides an historical interest into that era. Very well written too I like the author's style

I have also finished The Sunday Philosophy Club by Alexander McCall Smith picked up at H&D's on Sunday. Review will follow in due course. I will probably read The Book of Lost Things by John Connolley next.
JudyB
The House at Riverton I finished this this afternoon, sitting in the garden. What a fantastic story!! There's another book by the same writer currently available in Tescos - looks like a good read - I think it's called The Forgotten Garden but I'd have to check on that. supergran71
I am enjoying Emma very much. I am finding it very amusing the way Emma manipulates people.
supergran71
I finished Emma yesterday and started on The Hard Way by Lee Child yesterday evening. I thoroughly enjoyed Emma and could hardly put it down at times. Would recommend it to everyone.
supergran71
The Hard Way is the usual Lee Child Jack Reacher story, but I am enjoying it. I will finish it today sometime, but it is just reaching the climax at this stage and there is a bit of horror which I am not looking forward to. May give me nightmares tonight. Dont know what to read next.
