lexiepiper
I don't often browse in bookshops, I usually buy online as it works out cheaper, but when I go into the second hand book shop I rarely come out empty handed
Karen1
I never used to be able to enter a bookshop without coming out with at least one book. I'm not so bad now though as I just try and keep in mind my huge TBR pile that's sitting at home waiting to be read. 2009 is going to be the year that I focus on getting it down - which means no buying books. Or at least that's the plan.
SaraPepparkaka
I did it yesterday! Mainly that was because I had just recieved all I was planning to read in the close future in the mail just the day before, but still. I went in to a bookshop and came out empty-handed. It has never happened before.
pipread
The only reason I can resist buying, is because there are usually so many that I want, that I can`t narrow it down, then I spend ages dithering about which to buy and finally I end up deciding to think about it and leave empty handed! Kate
Interesting question...depends who I am with! If with my OH then yeah, he doesn't let me buy, but on my own.....I am weak!

frankie
I can resist but only because of the prices. I don't know why I bother going in because I only get sad seeing all the books and not buying any.
Nellie
Given the number of people who say that they can't resist buying a book, any booksellers on here must be feeling a warm feeling!

Ceinwenn
Now, for me, I really have to be in a book buying frame of mind, otherwise I find I wander around the shop, picking up little & buying (usually) nothing.
Nellie
I was in town today and wandered into Waterstones. I bought 2 books for Mr Nellie. I assume that because the books weren't for me, they don't count?

BookBee8
I can go in a bookshop and come out empty handed but it takes a lot of conscious effort. My boyfriend is always dragging me away and complaining that I take 'hours', which is clearly just an exaggeration ....
carm
No...even though I sometimes go in with the intention of not walking out with one-one somehow always manages to follow me home!!!

Nollaig
I thought I was capable of not buying a book, but I went into one bookshop today and came out with three classics, and then went to TESCO, not even a bookshop but TESCO! and came out with a new release. Whoops.

Lol, I'm the same when I go Asda, I think to myself, I'll just have a little glance down the book isle and then always end up picking one or 2 up
Nollaig
You know, I'm really grateful to this forum for boosting my reading ambition. I hadn't read a book out of sheer free will in probably over a year, excluding Twilight. Today I picked up 4 books, I've two more new additions lying around and I've just completed several other books. Happy Noll ^_____^
Kylie
I just went to a bookshop with $100 and walked out with nothing Too many choices and not enough time to decide then and there! Too bad, because the 20% off books sale ends today!

Kylie
Wait! I can redeem myself! I went back to the bookshop on the same day and spent $80. Is that better?
