LankaDivore Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Hi everybody, I've joined this forum today and I thought it would be a good idea to write an intro. I'm Lanka, 16 years old and I live in Germany. I'm a native German speaker so I'm sorry for all the grammar mistakes you can find in my posts. Since I often read English books (for me they are the "original books" the German ones are just a translatiom) I decided to join an English books-forum. I'm glad to be here now and I hope to take part in many discussions, improve my grammar and find many new books to buy and read Quote
LankaDivore Posted March 16, 2016 Author Posted March 16, 2016 ...and I just made the first mistake. Unfortunately I started this topic twice. Does anyone know how to delete one? Quote
Janet Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Hi Lanka - welcome to the forum. I've deleted your duplicate post. I hope you enjoy being a member of the forum. Quote
Athena Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Welcome here ! I'm from the Netherlands but often read English books too (and also Dutch ones). Quote
LankaDivore Posted March 17, 2016 Author Posted March 17, 2016 Thanks to everyone. Nice too see that not all members are originally English. Could anyone tell me please how to add an emoji to my post? Quote
chaliepud Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Hi Lanka, welcome to the forum! The emoji's are above the box you write in, just click the smiley face and you will see other options. Quote
LankaDivore Posted March 17, 2016 Author Posted March 17, 2016 I can't find them. There is no smiley-face above the box. Actually there's nothing above it (because of my tablet? I'll try posting with my laptop soon) Quote
chaliepud Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Ah yes, you'll only see that on your laptop unless you click the full version button at the bottom of your screen which would then make all the bits appear like they would on your laptop. Quote
LankaDivore Posted March 17, 2016 Author Posted March 17, 2016 I can't find them. There is no smiley-face above the box. Actually there's nothing above it (because of my tablet? I'll try posting with my laptop soon) yay, I've found them . Unfortunately I can just use them when I use my laptop (which I basically never do). Now I go back to my tablet to look for this full version button. Thanks chaliepud! Quote
LankaDivore Posted March 17, 2016 Author Posted March 17, 2016 Still can't find it (I think I'm just to dumb for using this forum ^^). I'm using the full version right now but the smileys still don't appear. (On my laptop they immediately appear when I click into the writing-box.) I took a screenshot of my current tablet screen. Maybe anyone knows which button to press... Quote
chesilbeach Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 You won't get the full version on a tablet. The only way to add the standard emojis from a tablet is type in the code e.g. a colon followed by a closed bracket is a smiley face or a colon followed by a D is a grinning face . - so without the space in between, they'd be : ) and : D Quote
LankaDivore Posted March 17, 2016 Author Posted March 17, 2016 Ahhh, alright. Thanks for telling me, chesilbeach. Quote
chaliepud Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Where it says use mobile version at the bottom, on the phone or tablet it says full version, or at least mine does! Quote
chesilbeach Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 I think on most tablets, even the full version won't give the full editor with the fonts, emojis, etc. I know mine definitely doesn't, and neither in different browsers on it either. Quote
LankaDivore Posted March 17, 2016 Author Posted March 17, 2016 [...] or at least mine does! Mine doesn't show any emojis. Now I use the keyboard to get those smileys in my posts and I'm fine with it. Quote
Michelle Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 You are using the full version, you simply need to click on the 'More Reply Options' button, I believe. Added: sadly that's incorrect.. I always assum d that would work. Sorry, I wouldn't know how to change that within the software. Quote
vodkafan Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Welcome Lanka. What sort of books do you like to read? Quote
LankaDivore Posted March 18, 2016 Author Posted March 18, 2016 I really like fantasy books (mostly urban fantasy) and dystopias. I barely read crimes or thing like that. Some of my favourite books (actually I can't name any "favorites" there are so many great books) are "Ashes" by Ilsa Bick, the "Tiger-saga" by Collen Houck, "the phantom of the Opera" by Gaston Leroux and the "immortal-trilogy" by Julie Kagawa (I'm really waiting for the third book to be released). And I, of course, love the Hunger Games trilogy Quote
