An 8th Harry Potter book has been announced to be released this summer, based on the play. It takes place after the first 7 books, 19 years after the 7th book (but in order not to say anything about its epilogue, I won't post more details here. Only look if you don't want to be a tiny bit spoiled). The play comes from an original story by J. K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany and it's titled Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

Hahahaha.

I'm utterly indifferent to this, to be honest. I'll give it a read when it comes out coz I'm never gonna go see the play.

I have to admit, I am a little excited about the idea of a new book...I may be lining up to buy a copy...I am in the process of rereading the Deathly Hallows, loving it!. I thought she wasn't writing any more books?

When I realised it was going to be a play script was not sure about it.  But I will buy it because it is the next step along for the books.  And I like most will not get to see the play.

I think it's really cool that Harry Potter can be experienced through a new medium. I have never read plays before (other than the ones we had to for high school) so I am excited!

This book / play has just been released. Here's an interesting link, about a 10-year-old who speedread the book in 59 mins. He was the first person on Amazon to post a review. So far the reviews are mixed, some people really liked it and some really didn't (and some were in between).

Just an FYI, we have a topic for The Cursed Child in the Children's / YA section. I've moved Danno's post there, please use that topic to discuss the book.
