Athena Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 An 8th Harry Potter book has been announced to be released this summer, based on the play. It takes place after the first 7 books, 19 years after the 7th book (but in order not to say anything about its epilogue, I won't post more details here. Only look if you don't want to be a tiny bit spoiled). The play comes from an original story by J. K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany and it's titled Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Raven Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 David Shelley, chief executive of the publishers Little, Brown Book Group said: "We are so thrilled to be publishing the script of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Ker-ching! Ker-ching! Ker-ching! Ker-ching! Ker-ching! Ker-ching! Ker-ching! Quote
Nollaig Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Ker-ching! Ker-ching! Ker-ching! Ker-ching! Ker-ching! Ker-ching! Ker-ching! Hahahaha. I'm utterly indifferent to this, to be honest. I'll give it a read when it comes out coz I'm never gonna go see the play. Quote
BookShelfy91 Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I have to admit, I am a little excited about the idea of a new book...I may be lining up to buy a copy...I am in the process of rereading the Deathly Hallows, loving it!. I thought she wasn't writing any more books? Shelfy Quote
Michelle Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I'm wondering if many people are reading the articles properly, and realise that it will be the play script, and not a novel? http://www.theguardian.com/books/2016/feb/12/when-is-jk-rowling-not-jk-rowling-when-she-collaborates-harry-potter-cursed-child Quote
shirley Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 When I realised it was going to be a play script was not sure about it. But I will buy it because it is the next step along for the books. And I like most will not get to see the play. Quote
lauraloves Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I'm going to read this - I'm a little worried about it being a play script as I don't always get on with them but its HARRY POTTER!!! eeekk! Quote
Raven Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 ... but its HARRY POTTER!!! eeekk! I think that is what is driving most people, and I doubt most will care about the difference. Quote
J. A. Haag Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 I think it's really cool that Harry Potter can be experienced through a new medium. I have never read plays before (other than the ones we had to for high school) so I am excited! Quote
Athena Posted August 2, 2016 Author Posted August 2, 2016 This book / play has just been released. Here's an interesting link, about a 10-year-old who speedread the book in 59 mins. He was the first person on Amazon to post a review. So far the reviews are mixed, some people really liked it and some really didn't (and some were in between). Link Quote
Athena Posted August 4, 2016 Author Posted August 4, 2016 Just an FYI, we have a topic for The Cursed Child in the Children's / YA section. I've moved Danno's post there, please use that topic to discuss the book. Quote
