chesilbeach Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 How to spot whodunnit: academics crack Agatha Christie's code http://www.theguardian.com/books/2015/aug/02/academics-unlock-formula-agatha-christies-mysteries Quote
Chrissy Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Do I read the article or do I carry on stumbling clueless through the novels as I currently do? I think I will give the article a read, and take it from there. Quote
Athena Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Interesting article ! It's amazing to think about their conclusions. I'm not entirely sure about the formulas, there seem to be a few errors in them. There is no second ')' in the first formula, and I'm thinking the 'f' in the second formula appearing twice, can't be right. I think the 'f' preceding the ' [ ] ' brackets seems to be meaning 'function' rather than 'female', that would make more sense to me at least. It's not good though to use the exact same symbol for two meanings, that is just confusing. I could be totally wrong though. Quote
Anna Faversham Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 I read this in my newspaper, slightly different slant from The Guardian, and I wish I hadn't! Quote
mirandashell Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 I did wonder whether to read it or not but I've read all of the books and know who all the murders are so I think I prefer to keep the magic! Quote
