Hazeltree Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Mine's just arrived. I got 'The Hunting of the Snark'. The actual story/poem is quite short but there is tons of introduction/preface type stuff at the beginning and bibliography and appendix at the end! I've definately got a better one than a lot of you though! Quote
Michelle Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Hazeltree, if you would consider selling or swapping that to me when finished, I might be interested. It holds such lovely memories for me, I think I'd like the book. Quote
angerball Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Got mine today: Under the Banyan Tree by R.K. Narayan. It actually looks quite interesting. Also, I have to say, I just love the smell of new books. Who else gave their book a good whiff? Quote
JudyB Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Has it arrived yet Judy!!? No but there again there's not a lot of room for huge delivery lorries to transport it down my road:lol: Quote
JudyB Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Also, I have to say, I just love the smell of new books. Who else gave their book a good whiff? Me too. I used to work in the careers department of a sixth form college and each year we would order university prospectuses for the students. My boss and I would spend a pleasant day sorting them out - at the same time admiring the covers and sampling their fine bouquets! Think the other staff thought we were mad! Quote
Mia Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Dammit - my book arrived yesterday! Like Hazeltree said, my book has a 30-page intro before the first play actually begins! I might skip that and just read the plays. Quote
madcow Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Still waiting for mine, begining to feel left out not! Quote
LittleLijah Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Still waiting for mine, begining to feel left out not! Don't worry I can keep you company....still haven't got mine either:roll: Quote
Michelle Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I really should start looking at mine...! Quote
aromaannie Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Finished The Vrigin and the Gypsy by DH Lawrence and have written my review. I only hope I don't get any hard comments from people if it appears on the site. Quote
aromaannie Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Did you enjoy it? I enjoyed the fact it was only 90 pages. It did get quite exciting at the end so considering it was completly out of my comfort zone in regards to reading material I was pleasently suprised by it. Quote
JudyB Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 I've read it - thought it was quite strange especially the ending. Would loved to have seen the film - it was on recently but I missed it. Quote
~Andrea~ Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 I got mine today. The religious writings of Meister Echkart, 12th century monk. It looks a but dull but who knows it may surprise me. At least it may be of more interest to me than for someone with no spiritual beliefs. Quote
Icecream Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 OH got his on Friday but I haven't got mine yet. Quote
LittleLijah Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Still haven't received mine either. Starting to worry it's lost in the post and they will think I've got it and expect me to review it:dunno: Quote
madcow Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Mine still hasn't arrived yet ah well still got loads on mount TBR. Quote
nicx27 Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 No sign of mine either, and still desperately hoping it doesn't arrive. Quote
