Do you think metamorphosis would be a better definition rather than death?

Why would you call it metamorphosis, if you are not sure whether it is really such or rather a simple annihilation of consciousness?

Given that both metamorphosis and annihilation are not appropriate, how about simply calling it the cessation of consciousness?

How does one qualify for such a diagnosis?
