Kreader
I like watching anime. I've seen a thread on Manga but not one on anime. Who else is a fan? I'll try to put up a list on the ones I liked watching. Here it is. Hunter X Hunter I Love You Baby Bleach Junjou Romantica Death Note The World's Greatist First Love 07 Ghost Code Breakers S Cry Ed The Story of Sainkoku Fushi Yuugi The Guyver Kyo Kara Maoh Legend of the Four Kings Hellsing Full Metal Alchemist Fairy Tail Black Blood Brothers Karneval Karin/Chibi Vampire D. Gray Man Infinite Stratos 12 Kingdoms Darker Than Black Chobbits Inuyasha Boys Over Flowers Fruits Basket Maid Sama Code Geas Ouran Host Club Special A The Golden String Edited March 3, 2014 by Kreader
Raven
I do have a liking for Cowboy Bebop myself, but I've not ventured much further because the genre seems to rely heavily on: a) Extreme violence or b) Casual (and completely unwarranted) nudity or c) Extreme violence and casual (and completely unwarranted) nudity Any suggestions? Kreader
Hi Raven, the movies, Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away and Ponya are family viewing. There are those I haven't mentioned because of the reasons you've given. I even come across two that were disturbing. I don't recall Boys Over Flowers having any nudity. The only violence there is when a girl slaps or kicks a guy who likes her and one bullying scene. The Golden String is all about music, no violence or nudity that I know of. I Love You Baby also has no nudity or violence, its about a teen who ends up parenting his little niece which endears him to a girl that previously paid no attention to him. Athena
I don't like extreme violence or nudity either, so most of my choices below don't have much of it. My favourite anime films (in order of how much I like them): All Studio Ghibli films Millennium Actress Welcome to the Space Show! 5 Centimetres per Second Summer Wars Tokyo Godfathers Voices of a Distant Star The Girl Who Leapt Through Time My favourite anime TV series (in order of how much I like them): Kare Kano: His and Her Circumstances Love Hina Fruits Basket Haruhi Suzumiya Eden of the East Haibane Renmei Azumanga Daioh Neon Genesis Evangelion That's all I can think of atm. My boyfriend has a lot of anime on DVDs (and a few on Blu-rays), I haven't watched them all yet that I'm interested in. He really likes Ghost in the Shell and Patlabor (other than the ones I've already mentioned. I haven't watched these two yet). If it wasn't for him I wouldn't have known about these films and series. Kreader
Hi Athena, I've see The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and some of Haruhi Suzumiya. I haven't seen the others so I guess I'll look them up.
Snowla
I love 07th expansion's anime series. うみねこのなく頃に (uminekonakukoroni) and ひぐらしのなく頃に (hikirashinonakukoroni) are great. They're both from his When They Cry series. 未来日記(mirai hiki) and chaos head are recently my favourite. Btw, kyoto animation's work is famous for its cute characters. Try k-on and 花咲いろば. I don't know if I'll be able to find these but its great you've added them to the thread. I watched some Fancy Lala this week. That's family viewing. Raven
I've got all of the Studio Ghibli films. For some reason I don't really class them as Anime (although they obviously are). I also have The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Origin, Sky Blue, some of the Ghost in the Shell movies (and some of the first TV series) and, of course, Akira. As far as I can tell these seem to cover most of the films that are not ultra-violent, the "Whoops! My top seems to have fallen off!" or excessively twee categories! Kreader
I've seen a bit of Kare Kano, it reminds me of Special A with all that rivalry. Special A is family viewing. There is slapstick comedy violence with characters slapping each other. I've also seen some Spice and Wolf.
Kreader
I've been watching Betrayal Knows my Name this week and enjoying it.
Rachel56789
Not really, but I have a friend who loves it.
Kreader
I've been watching Nodame Cantabile. It's about the friendship/relationship between two musicians. It's not violent though there are some slapstick moments and no scantily clad characters. You get to hear a lot of classical music in it.
