Thanks pontalba :D I wonder how a Southern Boy liked space. I hope they treated him right

William Shatner I know. What, he's in his 80's already? :o

I think for the general public in Finland (or at least the people my age and who aren't Trekkies), William Shatner became known for doing the Rescue 911 show. I was a just a teeny tiny kid back then (I'll have to google when this show aired) and I watched the show but oh boy it gave me terrors.

I still remember this one incident where some man who'd broken and entered a house and was harming the man of the house in some way (I can't remember the details) and this young girl of the family called 911 and told the operator what was happening. She was really scared but she did a great job, and I think she could even see some of the things that were happening to her Dad. I have no recollection of what happened to the family.

The really scary and mind effing thing of it: I was just a kid and I didn't understand about reenacting the scenes and events. I didn't realise that the kid was just an actor playing the part of the girl. I thought (and remember I was very young!) she was the actual kid whose father was being attacked and I didn't really understand how they were able to film it, how they just happened to be in the house. I don't think it ever entered my mind that if they were really there when it happened, they would've helped the people. I was just too shocked.

He also had a couple of other successful series.  One was a cop show, T.J. Hooker, and the other a lawyer show, wonderful, funny and cynical as heck...Boston Legal.  Many great actors in that one.  Especially James Spader and Candice Bergen.  I remember 911, and enjoyed it.  I can imagine a child being confused by the enactments though.

Really, Shatner and Spader should take their act on the road!  What great chemistry.

Boston Legal, that's it!  I knew he was in some lawyer show but I couldn't remember if he was playing one of the main characters (i.e., if it was his show), or if he was playing someone who came in every now and then. I could only think of Ally McBeal but I knew that wasn't the one. Yes, Boston Legal. Should've remembered, it was one of ex's favorite TV shows and he loved William Shatner in it :D He's a fan. I don't remember why I didn't watch that show. Maybe I didn't catch it right from the start.

Oh and thank you everyone for the info etc. re: Tim Tams, I'm now going to look into ordering them myself on Amazon, because as far as I know, they ship to Finland. I'm not sure they will accept my debit card, but I think they ought to.

I'm not too excited about registering with them, though, because it means I'll then have another book online website to try and avoid... :giggle2:

Great review of Inkheart! I should really buy and read it sometime!

You really should  Get a move on :D

I was kind of expecting to get a notice from the post office, to say some of the books I ordered had arrived, but no  Maybe tomorrow!

Me, too! :censored:  But I'm too eager... I have to remember that when Adlibris says the books will be sent in 2-5 days, I should not expect them to be sent before the 5 days are up, and when they say that the actual delivery will take 3-5 days, I should never expect to get the books before the 5 days are up  I'm just too eager! (And Adlibris is slow :censored:  Well, it's my own fault for not agreeing to pay a little extra for a faster delivery :giggle2:)

Edit: Had to fix some typos... I'm beginning to wonder if I always make as many, or do I make more now that I work all day long translating something into English. I feel like I can't be bothered to try and be grammatically correct after 4 PM :D

I've changed the priority for it on my Amazon wishlist, which contains some books of my overall wishlist but not all of them. Unfortunately though I don't think I can get a matching cover compared with the second book that I've already got. I could order a hardcover (the second one is hardcover) but I prefer paperback. So I might have to live with the different cover, will have to think about it.

I hope your package will arrive soon! I understand what it's like, usually after you order it you want it to get here ASAP (provided you're at home at time of delivery).

XD it makes sense you're tired so you don't want to pay as much attention to spelling and grammar. I think most people would have that. For me, it's kind of build in, I have an eidetic / photographic memory so I usually don't have much problems with spelling. Grammar is trickier, I very much try but sometimes (now and then) I mess up due to it being different in Dutch or for other reasons (sometimes it's good for a laugh with my boyfriend).

So there aren't any paperbacks available? That sucks!  I have the first two books in paperbacks, but the third one is a hardback... I once came across it and it was only 5e so I couldn't resist. I dislike mismatching books in a series.

Haha, maybe the next time I notice a typo or some other error I'll just say it was for laughs. :giggle:

On another note, the first of the two book deliveries arrived today! :exc:   It's fun to do the cataloguing. :typing:  I wish I could start reading them now!

There are paperbacks but they have completely different covers and spines to the one I already have (the ones that match are not available). I almost bought the third book in the UK (that matched the one I have) but I thought it'd be too heavy to bring so I put it back (it was really cheap too). Well, I might just buy the different ones sometime, since I want to read the books, but it'd be nicer if they could match. Hardcovers (I usually don't buy hardcovers, though these I think may not have a dust jacket which is a good thing for me) do match but they're really expensive.

How exciting that two book deliveries arrived!! The covers are really beautiful, some especially. It's always fun cataloguing your newly bought reads, isn't it :). What kind of system do you use, just GoodReads or do you also have a (manual) list of some kind?

The Godfather copy wasn't all that nice, but it was cheap and I've been wanting to read the book ever since I read Donnie Brasco.

I have a list of all my books on the computer, I add newly purchased titles there (along with date and price) and delete the ones I've given away. That's the one list I would regret losing the most.

I also add my new books to GR and of course on the appropriate posts on the first page of my reading log.

There's no other explanation for this but retail therapy (and because I'm too tired to go shopping after work, I did it at the office): I snatched three books from the free books bookcase today  I'd seen them several times, but the titles hadn't registered. I only noticed the author, Sue Harrison, and it didn't ring a bell. But today when I took a closer look, I realised that one of the books was an omnibus, including Mother Earth Father Sky, which I've heard great things about. I searched this site for any mentions of the books or the author, but found none :o So, in the end, I took home the lot :giggle: I got the Ivory Carver trilogy and two books in The Storyteller trilogy. If they're anything like Linda Lay Shuler's books, I'm in for a treat.

Wohoo, I got two books in the mail! Moby Dick by Herman Melville and Full Dark House by Christopher Fowler. :exc:  I'm particularly happy about the Melville book, but I'm particularly happy about Full Dark House, I've been wanting to start reading the series from the start. But I'm particularly happy about both books :D

This could go on all day .. which would be particularly awesome :D

Unless it started vexing everyone who didn't particularly wish to keep seeing this thread bumped up, particularly when their own threads had something more particularly interesting to say :D

I'm not particularly bothered about those people, they must be particularly dull if they don't like reading your particularly interesting thread .. and there are no dull people here so I think everyone will be particularly delighted with it

After the first few times, the word particularly looks particularly peculiar :D

:D Oh you flatter me, particularly well today! :D

Yes indeed, it does seem very peculiar. It's quite peculiar how sometimes when you start saying a particular word out loud, many, many times in a row, the word start sounding very peculiar!

I've just added Moby Dick to all my lists and now I'm particularly happy about buying it, because it's on so many of my lists! 1001 list, RG list, 501 list, poppyshake recs list, FTBC list and Matilda list! :) It's not very peculiar to find it on so many lists, it's a particular classic, after all
