  1. I feel proudly responsible for the increase in your TBR list. The only annoying thing is that they use Yodel as their delivery company - - they did lose the last order of mine, but The Book People re-sent it via a different company with no quibbling. Once you sign up to their newsletters, they email regularly, and every few weeks they do free p&p, which is worth holding out for, imo. C`mon, what books did you get ?
  2. Ooh look, The Book People have free p&p. I may have ordered the Camilleri and the Pym collections. Thus taking my TBR list over 700.
  3. Good to know. And I don`t need much persuasion to buy books.
  4. I`m up to 5 x 09 now. I`ll miss it, but I`ll also be glad of having another hour free per week. Also watched the last 3 eps of the latest season of Mad Men, and a S3 ep from Mad about You.
  5. Ooh, read The Bat - I`ve not read any Jo Nesbo, but I`m wondering if I should start with the latest published/first written one.
  6. Yes, and then they do those `free p&p this weekend, whoo !` offers, so you barely feel like you`re spending money at all. I`m also tempted by their Barbara Pym collection ; I`ve never read any of hers, but keep going across good reviews.
  7. I am going to get those books at some point, I`m glad they seem worthwhile.
  8. And just when I pronounced that I probably wouldn`t be bothering with any more of the Montalbano books, The Book People - click - announced that they`ve got 10 of Camilleri`s books for a tenner. I`ve got 3 or 4 of those books, but it`s just such a bargain and I did quite like them...
  9. I watched the TV show via YouTube ( ) and they ran to 50 or 52 mins ; I watched a bit of the show on Alibi and thought they`d cut bits out to fit the time slot in the UK.
  10. The Proms - Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto
  11. Ooh, good to know. I`ve also tried a few of the Inspector Montalbano books ; they were fun, but I think I prefer the TV show.
  12. I hope so too - possibly `cos I have another 9 of her books ( it was a special offer, 10 books for £9.99 ). I was looking for something to `replace` the Michael Dibdin Aurelio Zen series which I finished, and the Donna Leon books had good write-ups. And it made sense to buy 10 books rather than just buy the first one ; I forget the reasoning, but assume others on this Board are familiar with the same logic.
  13. i`m going to stick my neck out - ow - and say that S5 of Castle has been the bestest yet.
  14. Her website still lists it as a trilogy, but no news of the third book`s publication date *sniff*. Lots of goodies on your list - I haven`t tried The Long Earth yet, not sure about reading a non-Discworld book of his ( though I did read an excerpt from it ).
  15. I hadn`t heard anything about it either, till I went web-trawling to see if there would be a Book Four. NYDailyNews says that the latest translation should be done by the end of this year, so perhaps there isn`t long to wait. Murakami seems to inspire book mania in Japan similar to Harry Potter. Ah, I miss the Harry Potter excitement.
  16. CSI finale Friday Night Lights 5 x 08
  17. And it would be rude not to buy some books in Queensland... Have a great holiday.
  18. Thank you. ` In retrospect` - Like your mind makes more sense of it later on, subconsciously perhaps ? I found I thought `eh?` a bit during the start of Book Three - I read the first two books straight through, then had to wait for Book Three to be delivered - possibly it needed to be read all at once, to keep the thrillerish aspect going. I`m already looking foward to Murakami`s latest book - Click - which looks to be coming out next year. Might try The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle next , though Kafka on the Shore does have a kitty on the cover ( always a good way to pick books. )
  19. I recently finished Haruki Murakami`s 1Q84 ( books 1-3 ) and thought it was jaw-droppingly good. Certainly my pick of the year, so far.
