  1. Have just finished my 7th book of the year, The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan, it wasn't as good as it could have been and there were unanswered questions at the end, judging by the first chapter of the sequel I'm not sure I'll bother continuing with the series, unless I see it at the library perhaps. So 7 books read, I'm definitely on target to reach 50 books by the end of the year, as long as I can fight off any mojo abductions of course!
  2. Yay!!!!!! Thanks Sofia, I'm now following Ransom Riggs on Facebook so I can see when the book comes out, looks like 2012 at the mo..
  3. Finished Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, I found it a charming read, the children's characters beautifully drawn. The ending was very open so I'm hoping there are plans for a sequel! :-)) About a third of the way through The Forest of Hands and Teeth, it's so so at the moment but it's just about holding my interest...
  4. I really must try a Dickens at some point, I wonder if this would be a good one? :-))
  5. Paradise City ~ Guns and Roses..
  6. Birdsong was a wonderful reading wasn't it? I gave up very early with the tv adaptation as it was just so slow and didn't capture the book at all in my opinion... My other favourite Sebastian Faulks is Human Traces - I may have mentioned this a few times before ;-). I couldn't get on with Charlotte Gray despite trying a few times, I suppose it may be worth giving it another go some day...
  7. A white wine spritzer while I make dinner. :-))
  8. Thanks BB, I just checked the website and they do e-book loans but not for the kindle at the mo. So, still undecided for the moment, though I do have the £89 Kindle on my Amazon wish list, in case someone generous happens to come across it nearer my birthday...
  9. No, it was in my study drawer, not somewhere I EVER put books and I have absolutely no recollection of putting it there! Oh well could be worse I could've put it in the fridge (I had checked there though!!) :-)))
  10. The book has been found!!!!! Soooo pleased as I was really enjoying it, now have 3 books on the go, my head may explode!! it is a fabulous read but it is a slow burner, in a good way but you need to have patience with it and simply enjoy the writing and the story...
  11. Well, there was more in there than normal as I defrosted too much of the apples I froze in the autumn and was too lazy to make an extra crumble. Personally I prefer more apple less crumble but the kids are more interested in the crumble and the custard... :-)
  12. Me too, if not I'll have to buy a copy of the book for the library - I'll read it first though! I'm still considering a Kindle but not so sure I should now!
  13. I know I said I'm not a fan of RD, but I have to admit I did have a soft spot for The giraffe and the pelly and me, I'm not sure why really but I did like the fact that there were no awful characters in it, The Twits gives me the creeps!! Something I didn't relise till this evening was that RD was one of the scriptwriters for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, one of the best films of all time!!!
  14. Sweet Dreams - Eurythmics.
  15. I've lost Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, I'm hoping I didn't leave it at the hospital yesterday, I'm sure I didn't get it out as we were in and out so quickly... Typically it's a library book AND has my favourite bookmark in it.. I've emailed them so fingers crossed! In the meantime I've started The Forest of Hands and Teeth.. It's starting slow, I'm hoping it picks up pace soon. :-)
  16. Made a lovely apple crumble, but according to kids it has too much apple in it, oh well, all the more for me!!
  17. Take Me Up - Thompson Twins
  18. Take Me Out - Franz Ferdinand
  19. BD has a 24 hours of offers day tomorrow, a different one every hour... In case you feel like spending again Kylie!! :-))
