So far this year: Dark World by Zak Bagans The Art of Racing in the Rain hmm, there is another I can't remember right now, so I will come back when I think of it.
-
I've started reading The Art of Racing in The Rain along with Dark World. First time in a very very long time that I have read two books together at the same time.
-
So sorry to hear this Laura Thanks guys! I still can't believe I got it. it's almost like winning the lotto.
-
I am pleased to say, I pushed myself through the last of Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep? and am now going to start Dark World by Zak Bagans. I might have to keep it for during the day though, as it's about his experiences as a ghost adventurer. I have seen a few things that make me believe they exist. I might read another book along with it, I was thinking The Art of Racing in the Rain

I'm about a third of the way through my book, again. I am at the point where I stopped last time, and it's been a few days since I read it, I am starting to think I may never finish it.

Sorry to hear about your doggy Noll I have been around, just haven't really posted. I have been busy making good use of the weather down here by taking photographs. It's meant to be winter but it felt like spring on some of the days, we actually hit 21 degrees the other day. Some flowers are blooming so a lot are of them. I got a close friends wedding invite in the mail today, it's not till October, but I am super excited - its my first wedding! She has asked me to bring my camera along and take some extra photos. It's my bf's birthday next month, and I have a big surprise planned for him, it's also my birthday too! We are two days apart - what are the chances.
-
Thanks guys, I am really excited! I really needed some good news after a pretty dismal year health related, everything else was good though!

Well last month, I applied for an ms grant. The ms society give people with ms a one off grant to follow a dream they no longer can achieve due to their illness. Well I got the call to say I was picked as one of the lucky ones to receive one! There is a lunch to attend to receive our grant, I'm currently awaiting on details to come in the mail. I've already started looking into prices for everything I said I would do if I received a grant.

Thanks VF! Still sorting out my sleep, thanks for asking. I missed this place.

A belated congratulations on your new job Frankie so jealous! It sounds like so much fun.
-
Hey Frankie! I'm sorry I only just saw this post I have been fighting with my sleeping, been going from barly sleeping 2 hours to sleeping 15 hours, so I have been dipping in and out of the forum. He got me ICO, a book by a Japanese author that was a game originally.

On his way to work Rick Deckard, as lord knew how many other people, stopped briefly to skulk about in front of one of San Francisco's larger pet shops, along animal row. Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep? - Philip K. Dick

I've decided to restart my book, with such a long gap between chapters, I had forgotten a lot of it.

Do you catalogue your books on the internet?
Devi replied to VanessaL's topic in General Book Discussions
I too don't mind the look of collectorz, and being a gamer, wouldn't mind cataloging them too. If I were to do that though that would cost me another $10.50 on top of your $50. Very pricey considering there are websites out there that can do it for free or cheaper. -

You can change covers on goodreads, you just need to pick which edition you have. I do it all the time. I do find though that sometimes, they don't always have the cover I have. -
My gosh is it August already? I popped into a book store last month and picked up 10 books, of which two were free! I let my mum and bf pick one each. The best part is they were $5 Aus each! by title/author Conqueror - Conn Iggulden Time's Legacy - Barbara Erskine Dark Matter - Michelle Paver The Things That Keep Us Here - Carla Buckley The Sisters Brothers - Patrick DeWitt Across The Face of The World - Russell Kirkpatrick Pride and Prejudice and Zombies Dreadfully Ever After - Steve Hockensmith # what I didn't know at the time, this is in fact the second book to PPandZ and lastly The Darkest Road - Guy Gavriel Kay I just wish I could read as fast as I buy books!
-
I've rearranged my books, I now have three different shelves, fantasy and sci-fi on one shelf, non fiction on the second, and fiction on the third!
-
I haven't started it yet, I'm still trying to finish my current read. I have fallen behind a bit on my reading lately

Haha, I didn't say it because it's a novel based off a game, it's from a Japanese author. it's called ICO. Synopsis from Wikipedia: "Ico (イコ Iko?, /ˈiːkoʊ/) is an action-adventure game developed by Team Ico and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, released for the PlayStation 2 video game console in 2001 and 2002 across various regions. It was designed and directed by Fumito Ueda, who wanted to create a minimalist game around a "boy meets girl" concept. Originally planned for the PlayStation, Ico took approximately four years to develop. The team employed a "subtracting design" approach to reduce elements of gameplay that interfered with the game's setting and story in order to create a high level of immersion. The titular protagonist is a young boy named Ico who was born with horns, which his village considers a bad omen. Warriors lock him away in an abandoned fortress. During his explorations of the fortress, Ico encounters Yorda, the daughter of the castle's Queen. The Queen plans to use Yorda's body to extend her own lifespan. Learning this, Ico seeks to escape the castle with Yorda, keeping her safe from the shadow-like creatures that attempt to draw her back. Throughout the game, the player controls Ico as he explores the castle, solves puzzles and assists Yorda across obstacles."

My two big weakness's when it comes to games - rts and simulation based games (not the sims!! ). Ones like microsoft flight sim, gran turismo 5, age of empires series (aoe online lately) and sim city. I've played both oblivion and skyrim and finished them, and overall I preferred oblivion. The dragons or though cool to begin with, got annoying after awhile, and that was only after I went and waited till late as possible (after doing misc and side missions) to start the main story. Nothing against anyone who likes him, but I'm not a huge fan of yahtzee, and I must be the only one Anyone hanging out for far cry 3?

We had all the board games too, monopoly, payday, cluedo, scrabble, mouse trap, mind trap (anyone remember that?) etc. We also had plenty decks of cards! Sadly though my family no longer have an interest in playing board games. I remember them being very pricey in my day though, I think it cost us around $70 for cluedo at the time.

I absolutely loved the movie! I might have to check out the book too thanks to your review!

Yeah I still get the "but you're a girl" comments online, I stopped chatting in public games because of that, and some of the remarks I would get, not to mention the many lame pick up lines. I've been gaming since I was six, my brothers and sisters Atari and Nintendo were my first taste at it. I then went into pc gaming, and came back to consoles when I got the old grey playstation. Haven't looked back since. I'm also looking into building my own pc rig. I love the silent hill games, so I really want to try my hand at amnesia! I've seen videos of guys playing it, they think they are so tough, but start screaming not long after

Oh yes me too, I am super excited about the Last Gaurdian! I only got around to playing ico when I got the hd remake that had both games. I enjoyed it, but it doesn't beat sotc.
