Congrats, Kell, wow! That is great .
-
Lucas! That's him . Thanks, Charm . Good luck with your book!
-
I think I might do that, Charm! I also remembered that I wanted to finally start Interview with a Vampire but I'm in the mood for something fluffier. Ohhh and who's the dude I'm supposed to be looking out for in Dime Store Magic? I'm sorry your book is slowing you down .
-
Yes, Scarlette, definitely join in! You won't regret it I promise .
-
There are a few I've heard about and am looking forward to, but I'm not quite educated on all 2010 releases yet- Youth in Revolt The Wolfman (this is a maybe, but only because I love Benecio Del Toro ) Shutter Island Happy Tears Remember Me Twilight Saga: Eclipse (duh! ) The Green Hornet (also a maybe, because I love director Michael Gondry)

I agree, Rawr, his stories are very gripping. I think you'll like this one . The whole time I was reading it too it made me very anxious to get back to DC and have good wander around. There is a massive amount of cultural significance all in one place and it's very fascinating!

Nice! Contrary to public opinion, Rawr, there are things that are just too sweet. Although, a handful of Froot Loops with massive amounts of coffee may not be a bad thing now that I think about it... I took some turkey out of the freezer before I left for work this morn, so we'll see what concoction I can come up with when I get home.

Coolness, CW!! I love Fforde as well and am so excited for another convert . The Big Over Easy was hilarious, and I can't wait to read the other 'nursery crime' book, The Fourth Bear. Have fun with BOE! Finally posted my review of Lost Symbol, now to decide what to read next... I'm tempted to do the 3rd Sookie book, or the 3rd Kelley Armstrong, but I can't decide!

The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown (synopsis courtesy of Waterstones) WHAT WAS LOST WILL BE FOUND...Washington DC: Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned at the last minute to deliver an evening lecture in the Capitol Building. Within moments of his arrival, however, a disturbing object - gruesomely encoded with five symbols - is discovered at the epicentre of the Rotunda. It is, he recognises, an ancient invitation, meant to beckon its recipient towards a long-lost world of hidden esoteric wisdom. When Langdon's revered mentor, Peter Solomon - philanthropist and prominent mason - is brutally kidnapped, Langdon realizes that his only hope of saving his friend's life is to accept this mysterious summons and follow wherever it leads him. Langdon finds himself quickly swept behind the facade of America's most historic city into the unseen chambers, temples and tunnels which exist there. All that was familiar is transformed into a shadowy, clandestine world of an artfully concealed past in which Masonic secrets and never-before-seen revelations seem to be leading him to a single impossible and inconceivable truth. A brilliantly composed tapestry of veiled histories, arcane icons and enigmatic codes, The Lost Symbol is an intelligent, lightning-paced thriller that offers surprises at every turn. For, as Robert Langdon will discover, there is nothing more extraordinary or shocking than the secret which hides in plain sight... The Lost Symbol was definitely a Dan Brown book, complete with uber short chapters (sometimes half a page) and cliffhangers around every corner. While I realized I could read book after book about symbology and Masonic history, I found myself getting a little bored with Langdon and company. The bad guy was kind of over-the-top in my opinion, and while I know that there are people out there just as delusional as this guy, I never quite believed the things he was spouting off to himself in his head. I guessed his true identity shortly before the end of the book (I

You are most welcome, Weave! Even though I still think it's lame that they switched Volvo models in the second movie, I'm secretly hoping that Matchbox comes out with a mini XC90 in black .

Sounds like a great haul, Rawr, and good for you on the nicely-priced brand newbies! I think you might read 'Under the Dome' before me, so please let us know what you think when you do!

I must admit I quite like Paltrow's version of Emma , and I loved Clueless. I even remember seeing the actor who played Cher's friend Christian on the Santa Monica Pier one night while I was out in CA. We were walking through the parking lot to the Cirque du Soleil bigtop and there he was! Mind you, I have never read Austen's Emma. The only film that comes to mind for me right now that I liked better than the book was Stand By Me, but not because the book was bad. The book was a short story and I just thought the film did an excellent job of elaborating and making it a more developed piece of art .

My parents didn't want us eating sugar-y cereal growing up, so we were strictly a Raisin Bran, Life, Cheerios and Grape Nuts household . I was amazed in college how many people headed to the cereal bar for every meal . I think the sweetest cereal I've ever had is Fruit Loops and I hated it! (sorry Rawr) I will have potato smilies one day, and I'll take a photo to commemorate the occasion! Tonight I had tortilla soup and threw in the rest of the grilled chicken I had last night.

What are your first ten songs on iPod shuffle?
Peacefield replied to poppyshake's topic in Music / TV / Films
Out of 2,000 I think I have 56 songs on my iPod right now . I'm just musically moody lately and I hate having to skip past all those songs I don't feel like hearing... Can't Stop - RHCP Possibility - Lykke Li Tiny Dancer (cover) - John Frusciante Getaway Car - Audioslave Hey - RHCP Boy with a Coin - Iron & Wine The Violet Hour - Sea Wolf Monsters - Hurricane Bells Jesus Christ Pose - Soundgarden Common Reactor - Silversun Pickups -
I watched the extra features off the 'Underworld' DVD last night . Currently I'm watching the West Wing.
-
One of my most fave West Wing episodes from season one, 'In Excelsios Deo.' After this I'll be watching the Kennedy Center Honors. Woo Dave Brubeck you are the coolest!
-
Oooooh pretty! I approve . I have the long skinny one hanging in my kitchen .

Awww, how nice of your brother, Weave! Which version is it? I read more of the companion book last night, and it was really interesting reading about how they filmed the Oct/Nov/Dec montage scene . How many camera angles they used, what was CGI, how they made Bella's room a bit larger without making it looking like a completely different room from the first movie, etc. Good stuff!

I received a pink ribbon book mark with a cat charm on the end in my stocking yesterday, and I also received my second Edward bookmark (thanks, mom!).

Hey there and welcome to BCF! If you're into mystery, there's a great cosy series by Kate Ross set in Regency period England that you might like . She only wrote 4 books in the series and they star a great dandy named Julian Kestrel.
-
Grilled chicken and brussel sprouts for me. Yum-o!
-
Love that show, Katrina! I'm watching pre-game NFL coverage, waiting for kick-off in little over a half hour, woo!

What have you been watching at the cinema? (Cont..)
Peacefield replied to Lilywhite's topic in Music / TV / Films
I don't think you're the only one to hold that opinion, Andrea. A couple of my friends saw it yesterday and said the same thing - excellent efx, lame story.
