  1. Excellent looking lists, Dan! I've read and loved Fear and Loathing as well as Great Gatsby, so I hope you enjoy them . I'm also excited to see Secret History on another list this year - I LOVED that one! I'm looking forward to tracking down some LK Hamilton, and I also have the Kate Morton on my TBR shelf. I saw you have Madonna of the Almonds also listed. Have you read 'The Glass Blower of Murano?' I've had that one on my wishlist for sometime now.
  2. Looks like a great list, Poppy! I've read the Albom and Irving, which were fantastic! I also have the Morton on my TBR shelf. I've also read The Little Friend, and can I ask, have you read her first book 'The Secret History?' I absolutely loved that one.
  3. I hope you do too! It's great that you're starting with some of King's older works - you'll really get a sense of classic King then! If you like him, you should try and read The Shining one day. It's my fave!
  4. They have American snack foodshops in Finland?! I don't know why I should think this is odd, since we have other country's small foodshops here, but I guess I never thought about our stuff being special enough to be sold overseas. How cool! Yes, the real Willy, you're right Frankie! And like Lucybird said, Hershey's Kisses are solid chocolate all the way through. They make lots of different kinds now though, from kinds with almonds in the center to dark chocolate, and even to these really good white/milk chocolate striped kinds! I had a peanut butter kind once but it was bad. Definitely not as good as a Reeses peanut butter cup! Speaking of food and Gilmore Girls, I always remember in one of the very first episodes how Rory ordered coffee and chili fries at Luke's . I love coffee, but I would never think of having chili fries with it, yuck!
  5. Most definitely! We could wander around the House of Seven Gables in Salem and then have the best coffee on the eastern seaboard! Then me, you and Bethany could visit all the same spots Deliverance Dane did! Woo!
  6. Ooooh sounds excellent, Mexicola! I'm excited for you reading this .
  7. Great lists, Rach! I too am looking forward to hopefully reading The Host and The House at Riverton this year. You can't go wrong with The JD Salinger, and I'm so looking forward to you reading The Secret History! I've read it a few times and there's really nothing like it . I've only read Carrie of the King's you listed, but really you can't go wrong with an author like him!
  8. Skylark - Ella Fitzgerald
  9. I'm watching NFL post-game stuff at the moment, trying to figure out this whole business of home field advantage for the Super Bowl playoffs. So many rules, man! At least my team won today, so that's a very good thing .
  10. Thank You (cover) - Chris Cornell
  11. Stephanie! I hope you get to see it soon, at least before it leaves the theatres . It was viewing number six for me . Luckily my close friend loves it too and she's seen it with me all times but once.
  12. Great reviews, Chesil, and an impressive TBR list as well! I have snagged the series and added it to my wishlist, so thanks .
  13. Nice, Rach! The Lady Vanishes - White Rabbits
  14. Went to see New Moon again on Friday night, and I think I'm going to hold off going again until it moves to the cheap theatre. This hobby is getting to be way too expensive! I see the same trailers every single time though (ugh) and can definitively say that I don't want to see 'Letters to Juliet,' 'Dear John,' 'Lovely Bones' or 'When in Rome.'
  15. You would love it here, Charm, I know it! I'm determined to move east one day, so who knows, maybe we'll end up there at the same time!
  16. So glad to hear you're enjoying BOE, Catwoman! I can never get enough Fforde . I have The Fourth Bear on my TBR shelf, so hopefully will get to it soon. I wasn't home much today so the reading I did in bed this morning has been my only effort so far. I'll do more though tonight before I nod off .
  17. The same! See, now I know you and I have excellent taste . I love The Lady and the Unicorn; it's just so fascinating to me, learning about tapestry making, and reading it from several different perspectives was just the best .
  18. Woohoo excellent, Frankie! I hope you love Deliverance Dane's story just as much as I did .
  19. Excellent present, Mexicola! I've been hearing about this one for awhile and am so intrigued by the story. Do you have a fave Chevalier?
  20. Thanks again to you, Weave and Kell for introducing me to this series, Charm! Ooooh you have the new Chevalier, Mexicola?! I'm jealous! It's not out here until later this month, but I can't wait to get it . Please let us know how it goes!
  21. I watched another couple West Wing eps last night, from season 4 right before Sam leaves . Frankie, Juno is really an excellent film so I hope you get to see it one of these days! The writer, Diablo Cody, lived here in town for awhile and wrote for a local paper. The dialogue she wrote for that movie is so different, and it makes the film, I'm telling you! Thanks for passing on those song titles too! Juliette is much more appealing to look at than Mick Jagger, I agree .
  22. Oooh what nice friends you guys are for buying her those books! She most definitely will lose time with those books. Ah to be reading them for the first time again! Makes me a bit teary . I hope she gets to them soon! I can't wait to read this one either, Charm. I'm always on the lookout for other books on this subject matter as well. I heard also that Howe is planning a sequel eventually to the Deliverance Dane book so that's something to look forward to! You must visit Salem and Boston, and the whole New England area - it's the best! So much US history to see there. I only spent 1 day in Salem and 2 in Boston, but I squeezed in a ton of stuff. I definitely need to go back though!
  23. Wow look at all this chat that goes on while I sleep! I'm amazed sometimes . Fig Newtons are very tasty, I've always enjoyed them. They are, like Chrissy said, mashed up figs (aka cream) inside this kind of dense pastry. It's not flaky pastry, but hard to explain. They have a weird shape, kind of like you take a circle and flatten it - does that make sense? I haven't had them in a long while, but they're good. I just watched the episode yesterday from season 1 when Dean comes over for the first time to watch Willy Wonka, and there was tons of junk food in that one. I think I remember marshmallows, Hershey's Kisses, red vine licorice, and I can't think of any more. I remember seeing Rory sit on the porch swing eating from the can Redi-Whip, the whipped cream stuff . I don't mind long hair, but Gil's was kind of frizzy. Plus his kind of long hair just seems to 80's for me, and it just reminds me of his Skid Row days, LOL. I kept expecting him to break out and start screaming 'I remember you!' I am most definitely not apposed to giving and getting a little lovin' Frankie . Come on over to Team Gilmore, Chesil!! You will LOVE it I just know it!
  24. Excellent lists, Charm! My friend was talking to me the other night about this Laurell K Hamilton, and saying that I might like them. I'm curious to see what you think, Charm! Oh, and that same friend, I gave her my copy of Bitten and she's reading it now - hopefully she gets hooked on Armstrong too . I hope you enjoy Angels & Demons. It's by far my fave Brown. I'm hoping to read the Heretic's Daughter one of these days too, and I'm so glad to see The Shining on your list! Hands down, it's one of my top books of all time . Miles above the movie too, btw (but don't tell Rawr I said that, LOL).
