Glad you liked The Dreaming Void! I enjoyed the Commonwealth Saga but the start of the Void trilogy was highly superior, much more tightly paced with better characters and plot. I did enjoy the references to the previous books though.

It was, good eye! She'll tell you how good it is as well! The streets are canals instead of roads but there is still pavements and alleyways everywhere, you can visit without ever getting on a boat, but why would you?

I enjoyed it as well, but probably not as much as you. I'm a third of the way through the second book now but having a break while a get through some library books. Great review!

Back from Venice, had an incredible time, it is such a beautiful city and the weather was perfect. We also went over to Verona and Lake Garda which are also stunning. Just a few of pics: Didn't get much reading done, but did start the third book in Marsden's Tomorrow series which is great.

My thoughts too! Mistakes like that would annoy me a lot. Wyrd Sisters sounds great, looking forward to getting to it

Hope you enjoy it more than I did, I think it will be one I will go back to in a few years with an open mind. It is very bizarre! A couple are mentioned but some minor characters do show up. I finished the second Pratchett book, The Light Fantastic, I enjoyed it. Thought it was on par with The Colour of Magic. I think I will continue with the Rincewind novels in order, I know some say it's not the best way, but most say it doesn't make a difference. I have also finished Mystic River and The Dead of Night, the second book in the Tomorrow series which was much better than the first. I've also been working through the Y: The Last Man graphic novels which have been great so far. Off on holiday to Venice next week, probably won't get much reading done but I should take 4 or 5 books just in case

Adorable cats as always! It was irrtating with the Ketty Jay covers, they started with 1 type, re-released them in a new style then went back to the old style for the final book. Sourcery is the next Pratchett book I am planning on reading, shame you didn't like it as much but there is always plenty more

It's a great story but I can't see it being adapted well, my mind just goes straight to Clash of the Titans. I hope it proves me wrong though.

Yeah I think so, he felt he'd gone as far as he could with it and wanted to try something new. He's not a particularly fast writer or active online so it's hard to know what's coming. He updated his blog in February (for the first time in ages) to basically say he has nothing in the works

You'll find it here. I didn't enjoy it as much as any of the Ketty Jay books but it was very unique and interesting. I have his Braided Path trilogy on Kindle which I am hoping to read soon, but just seem to keep starting other series instead Apart from that he has only done YA stuff which I haven't bothered looking into. It was a shame he didn't keep going with Ketty Jay, I think the format would have been perfect for an ongoing series

I think Scott Lych's Gentlemen B*stard series would be perfect for HBO or AMC series. Also Y: The Last Man graphic novels would ideal for something similar.

The Imitation Game, thought it was brilliant! Not a huge fan of Cumberbatch but he did great. Wish they had filmed a bit more at Bletchley and Bletchley Park though, I grew just around the corner and worked there during my summers when I wasn't at Uni. It's a beautiful location.

I was hoping you'd like the second one more. I remember that's when I fell in love with the characters too, he really finds the right pitch in the second book. I loved the opening scene, one of the best I've ever read. Onto the third book?

I've just started reading The Light Fantastic, only my second Discworld novel, I'm going to read all the character arcs in order, starting with Rincewind then probably Death. You've taken your first step into a larger world... I had similar feelings except the last sentence, a week or so after I found I had no desire to read any of the sequels, and at this point I don't think I ever will. I did enjoy whilst reading it though. Great review Do you own any of the sequels yet?

Finished a few books lately: The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett, shamed to say this was my first Pratchett but happy to say it won't be my last, thoroughly enjoyed it Neuromancer by William Gibson, it started off well and I'm not sure if it got a lot worse or I just lost focus but I didn't enjoy it much at all and just wanted to get it finished Messenger's Legacy by Peter V. Brett, this is a novella set between his 3rd and 4th book (with the 4th being released imminently), this I really enjoyed and for the first time since reading the abyssmal The Daylight War I am excited for the next book. Highly recommended for fans of the series. Sandman: The Doll's House by Neil Gaiman, the 2nd graphic novel in the Sandman series, this was pretty disappointing, I wasn't too keen on the first but this was even worse. Just generally pretty boring, no good characters or story and the artwork isn't anything special. That's it for now, no tomes on the go at the moment but I am tempted to start one soon!

I read Anne Frank's diary a couple of years ago and was similarly moved. It must be great to read it in the original language though! I would love to go to the house as well but I have heard about the queues.

Yeah I agree, it was very forgettable. Watched Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. It was OK, very predictable but enjoyable, a few good scenes and a few things that made no sense.
