  1. I wouldn't be surprised! I never took out insurance and had the same Sky+ box for 3 years with no problems. Not as many HD channels and no Sky Atlantic is the biggest issue! but overall I'm happier with Virgin.
  2. That's how they sting ya, I don't have Sky anymore, went with Virgin, their broadband is brilliant as is the TiVo box which they replace for free if it breaks.
  3. Does that include book allowance? If so i'm very jealous! Sounds like a brilliant opportunity and great experience if nothing else
  4. Yeah of course! The audio book just stated it as King It's weird cause it's the same narrator as Moby Dick and the narration in that is a big part of why I loved it so much
  5. Yeah that could be it, I need a short break between the books by the same authors then after a trilogy or something similar I would need a longer break. A good or bad thing? In your opinion.
  6. This seems to be a running theme with you and trilogies, get your hopes too high after the second just to be disappointed by the third but not enough to ruin it lol.

    Book News!

The highly depressing 'top ten highest paid writers' of 2012
  8. Yeah it always has been, maybe I missed something fundamental I'd say that Americans may get more out of it than me but who knows. I saw the film as well which is fairly similar in style and other then some beautiful scenery (which isn't described in the book) it was basically the same as the book. I still need to see it, if it's anything like the book then I know it will be good Finished listening to the David Copperfield Audio book. It was cracking good listen, witty and charming and so well performed. I've not read many Dickens but I would certainly recommend this to people. Overall 8/10 Started reading The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie, a book i've really been looking forward to starting for a while. Great so far! Tried to start The Talisman audio book by Stephen King, but the narration by Frank Muller is awful! He goes quiet and almost whispers the last word of every sentence, you can hear his breathing as well, it's horrible. So I started Red Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson which is better by far.
  9. My favourite book of the year so far! Can't recommend it enough. I have most of Robert Harris' books that my wife reads on my list and have no motivation to start any of them.
  10. Congratulations! I hope they keep you on, they'd be silly not too.
  11. I have a lovely Folio edition of Robert Graves' The Greek Myths, it's a two volume set together in one slip case with fantastic artwork.
  12. Won't really affect my decision to read it or not, it's just good to know if there is more coming. I still have three more trilogies I would like to read/make a start on before the end of the year as well as continuing on with the bigger series. So this will likely be on my list for next year Hope you enjoy the final book!
  13. I was hoping to find a good book covering the history of the wars and battles between Britain and France. Kings and Queens, invasions and occupations etc. Has anyone heard of anything like this? Did a quick search myself but got nothing.
  14. We have different priorities... Congrats on 5 years with BCF!! I haven't hit two yet. Lets not say things we can't take back
  15. Started reading The Wind Through the Keyhole by Stephen King, an addition to his Dark Tower series. Also reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.
  16. Glad to see you enjoyed the next one as well Is The Prince of Nothing a neat-and-tidy trilogy? Has it been completed or is he planning more in the same world?
  17. Lol, that's one way to look at it. I finished 1356 by Bernard Cornwell, didn't think it was as good the trilogy that it follows, especially in the characterisation. But still good fun like always. Overall 7/10 I also finally completed On The Road by Jack Kerouac, it is on my list of 50 books to read before you die but I have no idea why, I could of died quite happily never having read that. There are a couple of interesting scenes and characters but it moves on so fast they are instantly forgotten about. The book has no aim and the characters have no motivation except to achieve as little as possible (apart from travelling and sleeping with girls of course). I know it is largely autobiographical but I just couldn't get on with Kerouac writing style, very short sentences with no explanations and no emotions... more of a shorthanded travel diary. Overall 4/10 I've almost finished The Wind Through the Keyhole by Stephen King and for my next classic I have started Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
  18. Hehe that's pretty good! Took me a while to get through it all Grammar is not my strong point.
  19. What did you think?
  20. Reading 1356 by Bernard Cornwell, it's a follow up to his 'Grail Quest' series and is up to his usual standard.
  21. Welcome! You're in the right place
  22. I understand announcing the regeneration but it would be good if they kept it secret who the next doctor actually was, but I know that could never happen with the over-obsessive fan boys being so desperate to find out first. It was also a shame that it was leaked beforehand, it made the whole live announcing feel completely redundant and anti-climatic but never mind.
  23. Priest is on my list of authors to check out, with The Inverted World and The Prestige on my wishlist.
  24. Maybe they did, I just seemed to notice it a lot more this time.
  25. I do love Capaldi, but it will be down to the writers to make the show good again. If they carry on the same standard as last season then it won't matter how good of a Doctor he is.
