  1. I have just finished The Armada Boy by Kate Ellis and once again Kate Ellis got me enthralled in a wonderful storyline with wonderful characters. A great story.
  2. I have had difficulty sleeping so stayed up and finished The Armada Boy by Kate Ellis, now I am to re-reading Pawn of Prophecy by David Eddings, book 1 of the Belgariad, I just love fantasy books with maps in. I think it is fantastic how the author can invent a whole world, peoples, animals and community, it must take an awful lot of doing building a world from scratch, and making it so believable.
  3. Wow Kirsty some good authors being mentioned there, I also like Jack Reacher Books, and I enjoy Harlan Coben, I have read The Poet, it was a slow start, but turned out to be a good read. Sounds like ur after my own heart
  4. Oak Goblinshimmer She brings riches and wealth. She lives in forests of oak and lime trees. She is only seen when the first flowers begin to blossom. She wears pretty autumnal leaf colours and has gentle green wings like a butterfly.
  5. Hi Kirsty great to see you here, I also vere towards Crime and Fantasy, but since joining here I have found myself exploring other genres, my reading list is growing daily. I am sure you will get a lot out of being on here as I do, take care,
  6. The Hunger Games By Suzanne Collins This book is characterised as a Teen book, and I my teens are left behind in the far past . But after all the reviews on here, decided I must give is a read. Surprisingly I thoroughly enjoyed this, it was superbly well written, and the characters were well thought out and most believable, I lived through every pain and emotion along the way. Brilliant. Although I would have loved to know what happened to Gale, I liked him However, while reading this book, there was this feeling of deja vue, I kept thinking I have read a similar story before, took a lot of thinking back to years ago, and the name Elizabeth Moon kept popping up, my hubby eventually came up with it, Hunting Party by Elizabeth Moon The story line was slightly different as a group of people were placed on a planet, and were hunted down by hunters as a sport.
  7. I don't read in different voices to myself, but I love reading to children, then I do put on a different voice, and they love it
  8. I do enjoy my reading and read as much as I can, ummmmm, don't laugh but I had to google voracious,
  9. I have just finsihed Murder and the Golden Goblet by Amy Myers - I found this book very confusing, for me it was slow and disjointed and I didn't relate to the characters they seemed shallow and unreal to me somehow Unfortunately the synopsis made the book sound just my type of book.
  10. Thanks for the reply, some nice ideas, it is a buffet type meal (I think, actually it wasn't specified)
  11. Tonight I am attending a Faith Supper, Faith supper means that you have Faith that everyone will take a plate of food and there will be enough to go round of different types of food. I hate going to a Faith Supper because I never know what to take, any suggestions would be most welcome but must be easy to prepare/buy
  12. Hi and welcome I would recommend The Belgariad Series by David Eddings, a series of five books the first being The Pawn of Prophecy
  13. Sound interesting now on my wishlist
  14. I gave up on my second book which is unprecedented, this one was The Old Contemptibles by Martha Grimes, confused.com, I got so totally confused with the storyline and didn't relate to the characters, another one bites the dust:)
  15. Today I gave up on A vengeful longing by R N Morris because I did not get on with this book, it was very long winded and slow moving, I did not relate to the characters, in the end I felt it was not improving and gave up on it.
  16. I have been reading A vengeful Longing by R N Morris however I did not get on with this book, it was very long winded and slow moving, I did not relate to the characters, in the end I felt it was not improving and gave up on it.
  17. That does explain it, as when looking on goodreads, the authors name is Richard Castle. So the books are based on the show not the other way round
  18. Today I started reading A Vengeful Longing by R N Morris, the opening chapter described a woman being poisoned (this is not a spoiler, as this is what it said on the synopsis on the back of the book), it describes the woman thoughts feelings and panic as the poison takes hold, very descriptive and well written.
  19. What a brain am I? I love this TV series, never occurred to me it was taken from a book, it is now on my wish list Many Thanks for this tip
  20. Take me back in time, to when my only worry is what book to read next.............. Narnia The Famous Five Anne of Green Gables The Hobbit
  21. Death and the Cornish Fiddler by Deryn Lake - Genre Crime I don't usually read set in this era, anything pre Victorian, I do not usually choose to read, so was sceptical, however, I was attracted by the cover and the title, and the synopsis, if you chose to ignore the era, so thought give it a go. I was pleasantly surprised, it was a pleasant read, very descriptive of the era, and I enjoyed reading about the characters and the storyline was also very good.
