  1. Ooh I like the sound ot those books, now put it on my wishlist on Goodreads
  2. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Stieg Larsson The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson I had seen many references to this book but had my reservations, but eventually gave this book a go, a wopping book of 538 pages. But wow what a surprise, fantastic. The Prologue was a bit boring but it did set the scene, then you went into part 1, and it became a great page turner one of those rare books you can't get enough of and grudge every minute not reading. I loved Mikael and as for Lisbeth, not a nice person, but there is something about her that as her character grows you start to gain sympathy for. I have to say I didn't like Cecilia, she seemed a very selfish woman. I guess there is only one thing for it I will have to read Book2 of the Millennium Series
  3. I couldn't find a copy of this book so Poppyshake loaned me a copy for which I am most grateful. This is a different genre for me, I am cautious of Classics, in this case I was right to be, I didn't enjoy the writing style, it was very long winded and tiresome, I suppose boring would be more the term. And I just couldn't relate to the characters at all, after struggling through a 1/4 of the book I finally gave up. However, I am not sorry to have attempted it, a new reading experience is never wasted.

  6. Black Shuck - The Devil's Dog by Piers Warren Just read in the Eestern Daily Press (a regional newspaper)about a book coming out on the 24th October called Black Shuck - The Devil's Dog by Piers Warren it is about the legend of the large Black Dog that has haunted the East Anglian Coast for centuries. Synopsis from Black Shuck Black Shuck - The Devil's Dog - a terrifying new supernatural thriller by Piers Warren set in the village of Blakeney on the North Norfolk coast. A New Ghost Story for Halloween 2011 For centuries Black Shuck has patrolled the coastal paths of Norfolk – a spectral portent of death. But now the phantom dog is evolving into something altogether more horrifying. Gaining strength and powers by the day, Shuck has developed a gruesome appetite – a hunger he sets out to satiate ... Wildlife film-maker Harry Lambert needs a serious rest. His best friend is dead, his wife has left him and his career is on the rocks. A spot of bird-watching on the Norfolk coast should help ... but when Harry stumbles into Black Shuck's territory, the hellhound finds the victim it was hunting for .. Doesn't it sound wonderful, I can't wait........... and Blakeney is just a few miles up the coast from me.........fantastic.
  7. I admit to being pleasantly surprised, after reading several reviews on here I decided to get out of the library The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stief Larsson I had wondered about it previously, so taking the plunge, wow, I love the characters and the way they are shaping up and it is very well written.
  8. Thanks
  9. Hi Honeygirl and welcome, you will find lots of ideas of things to read on here, I used to do cross stitch, and often think I would like to take it up again, I would be interested in finding out what weight loss forum you belong to I haven't found one I like as yet, they are either supporting a particular diet or not very active. All the best
  10. Hi, just looked at your challenge, I am interested never having done a challenge like this, I would worry about which books to go for, so thinking about it
  11. A much better show and better song choices, the weakest link is Frankie, I expected much from his auditions but he turned into a huge disappointment.

  14. I finished The Queen of Sorcery By David Eddings I started The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie Poppyshake sent me The Ambassadors by Henry James which I will attempt next I got out of the library The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson as I have read loads of reviews on here, thought I would give it a go and Life is just what you make it by Donny Osmond this is his autobiography, I thought it could be interesting as I used to be in love with him
  15. The Queen of Sorcery by David Eddings Book 2 of The Belgariad My Favourite Characters Was Belgareth and Polgara, although all the characters knitted so well together, I enjoyed the interaction between Belgareth and Polgara. The part I enjoyed most was Belgarions gradual realisation of who he is. I do enjoy fantasy books that take centre round a small group people on a quest/search, I find it exciting following their adventures I have read this book before it is a great story and very well told, watching it develop and grow.
  16. an awful chaotic day

  17. I am watching 'Strictlty'
  18. Last I watched The Sum of all Fears a good film, watched it a couple of times before, but I didn't realise the Exectutive producer was Tom Clancy who wrote the book.
  19. I have just finished The Pawn of Prophecy by David Eddings (Book 1 of The Belgariad) I love books with Maps in them, although this starts a little slow, the characters in the book and the setting for the story are a great read. This is Fantasy at its best. Going back down memory lane and rereading such a good story. I adore Polgara.
  20. I also wanted to join this month, but I couldn't find the book in the library or charity etc shops, and as I felt it probably wouldn't be my type of book didn't really want to buy it new, however, it would have been nice to have a read of it, I could have been surprised.
  21. Never read this, but don't think I will, the film still gives me nightmares
  22. Oh dear!! thanks for that another one for my wish list
