  1. The Help: Movie was good, but of course things were omitted and changed. Book was much more enjoyable. Glad I read it first.

Doubt: This is the only movie that was word for word from the book (play). Never in my life, have I ever experienced that.

I really want to see The Help. I didn't know Doubt was a play/book, but I really enjoyed the film!

  2. I know what you mean, and I know a lot of people who have the problem of then only being able to imagine the movie stars rather than who they would actually imagine when reading the book - I thank my blessings I am able to NOT do that. I must have a magical switch in my brain that helps me because I have never once imagined daniel radcliffe as harry potter when I have been reading the books! phew! ;)

  3. exactly. Like harry potter - I mean, the books are amazing, the films not so much - but they are good in their own right. I love the books, like the films for different reasons... even if the film isn't so good, I still love the books... does that even make sense? I'm starving and losing brain power! :D

  4. I'm a veggie, so mine includes quorn, but you can obviously put chicken in it if needs be! (this is also a 'free' meal on slimming world)

I start by whisking up about 2 eggs in a bowl - throw them in a stir fry and make a little ommlette. (this is just my way of doing it). Once cooked, take it out of the pan and put it aside.

I stirfry some veg, like carrots, onions, corgettes, red peppers, mushrooms and a little bit of chilli (I never use a whole one! :P) - if you have baby corn and mange tout thats also good.

Next I throw in the quorn so its heated up enough.

In the mean time I boil up some rice and when its cooked I throw it in the wok with the veg etc. I then throw in the omlette (cut into strips) and then I douse the whole thing in dark soy sauce.

It really doesnt take long. it basically takes as long as rice takes to boil - so say, 10 mins?

    it's perfection!

  5. I finished this yesterday afternoon - I really loved it. I am eagerly looking forward to the next installment, and this first book was a great introduction to the new story line and some great characters. By the end of it, I was literally gasping out loud at the crux of the story and each new development. 5 out of 5!!

  6. I was discussing this with my partner the other day. Films will never be able to give as much description as a book however there are films that fit into the very good representation of the book category and then there are films that fit into the down right awful category which are really poor represent of the book. Which books do you think had the worst film made?

For me is has to be ‘The golden Compass’ based on Phillip Pullmans trilogy, the film was truly awful in my opinion and did the books no justice at all. I also think the ‘Eragon’ film based on Christopher Poalini’s trilogy was complete rubbish too which was such a shame as its one of my favourite books!

Ditto with the books to films - these 2 had such potential, but instead of really giving it a go, they tried to cash in on the magical film genre, which was a mistake! Still, I watch Eragon and Golden Compass just for the funsies of it all, but I wish they had been as amazing as the books!

  7. totally agree - although I like seeing certain books made to movies, there is a sudden influx which not only ruins the books for most people, it also attracts people to the stories who used to laugh at you for reading those kinds of books (it's happened to me so many times in the past 2 years that I'm just peeved off about it all now).
