I've picked up a couple of books in my local pound shop too and always have a little nosy if I'm passing... you know, just in case.

Your Book Activity Today - Thread 11
Scoopalicious replied to Janet's topic in General Book Discussions
I've not done any reading so far today, but that's all about to change. My plans for today include me finishing my current read and writing the review so that I can start a new book later. I also want to get around to starting a book log here on Book Club Forum, although I haven't quite figured out the best way to go about it yet. -
I watched the very first episode of ER last night. I love seeing all the original characters again and as for the hospital itself... well it looks rather dilapidated back in Season 1.

Your Book Activity Today - Thread 11

I've had a really good reading day today. I've so far read 150 pages of my book which is pretty good going for me and I'm enjoying the book so much I'm planning on heading off to bed for an early night later in order to try and get the book finished. I've never heard of Peyton's Place before but from reading all the comments on here it sounds like I may have to keep an eye open for it. -
Thanks everyone. I'm beginning to settle in a little now and it's been all the more enjoyable because everyone has been so welcoming towards me.

The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks
Scoopalicious replied to Kate's topic in Women's Fiction / Chick Lit
I love his books too and think this sounds great. I do actually have it in my TBR pile too so will have to dig it out. The only thing that puts me off a little is the fact that it was written with Miley Cyrus in mind for the role of Ronnie in the movie version and I'm not exactly her biggest fan. Still I guess I shouldn't let that affect my enjoyment of the book. -
That sounds like a perfectly good enough reason to me!

The Grey's Anatomy finale was amazing! It was so well done and really had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I bet it will get ignored though when it comes to awards time, particularly with Lost having finished this year.

Andy is only English when he is doing well. When he does badly in tournaments people (i.e. the media) say he is Scottish. People need to get over the whole English/Scottish divide, particularly when during these types of tournaments he's representing Great Britain as a whole.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Films : Parts 1 & 2
Scoopalicious replied to lexiepiper's topic in Music / TV / Films
Well I'm a HUGE Harry Potter fan and even though I don't think any of the movies have quite lived up to the books themselves I still love them. I cannot wait to see this film... it looks fab! I will, however, be waiting for the DVD release though as I'm not a huge fan of the cinema. -

Woo Hoo! Federer is out! Did you see the look on his wife's face during that last game when she knew he was in serious trouble? Priceless! I know this is going to sound really horrible, but I have never been so glad to see someone lose before! Berdych is a star! Andy played great yesterday, although I do have to admit to having a bad feeling prior to the match starting and for a wee while during it, but he pulled it off in the end. Woo! I'm really not sure who will win out of Murray and Nadal though. I'd love to say Murray and that's definitely who I'll be rooting for, but I do think it might be a bit of a struggle for him. There is something about Murray that seems to put a lot of people off him and even though he isn't all that great during interviews etc he is still British and for that reason and that reason alone I want to him to win! It's been so long since we've had a British winner and he's our best chance at the moment, so go Andy!

Right, okay. Now I get it. Thank you.

Me too Inver! I'm glad that Venus is out too, but a little surprised about Kim Clijsters. I actually wanted her to win the women's title this year! Ooh and I'm gutted that Andy Roddick was knocked out of the championships yesterday... again I wanted him to win the title. I'm so bored of Federer and Nadal dominating the game.

To all those people who have said that my TBR pile will only grow... I've ordered 8 books from Amazon today! Whoops! Not sure how that happened, plus I still have another 6 on pre-order (which I ordered a few weeks back)! This is not looking good!

I've got a few of Debbie Macomber's books waiting to be read, the first three in the Cedar Cove series and Mrs Miracle which I bought after watching the made-for-TV movie which aired over Christmas. I've looked at it a couple of times since, but I figure I should wait and read it a bit closer to Christmas as it might be a little strange reading a Christmas book in the middle of summer. I've also got Twenty Wishes but I've been led to believe that this is actually part of the Blossom Street series and as I prefer to read a series in order this one has been put on the backburner for the time being.

The Revenge of the Wedding Planner by Sharon Owens
Scoopalicious replied to Kate's topic in Women's Fiction / Chick Lit
I've seen this book in my local library a few times and have swayed over whether to get it out or not. I've always decided against it based on the fact that I didn't really like The Teahouse on Mulberry Street or was it The Ballroom on Magnolia Street (can't remember which one now but I think it was the former). However, I have read The Seven Secrets to Happiness which I believe is from the same auther and I absolutely loved that one, so maybe I should give this one a go. -

I've been thinking about re-reading the Harry Potter series for a while now but have put it off because of the HUGE pile of books I have waiting to be read that I haven't gotten around to yet. But I've since come up with a plan based on the Read 3, Buy 1 thing I came across in someone's signature on Book Club Forum - Read 3, Re-Read 1. Perfect! Only another two books to go and then I'll be joining you! -
I have to admit that I do like Jodi Picoult's books although I do have to be in the mood to read them. I've only read a few, namely Nineteen Minutes, My Sister's Keeper, The Pact, Perfect Match and The Tenth Circle. My favourites being Nineteen Minutes and The Pact. I also have quite a few of her others waiting to be read too and as it's been a little while since I last read one of hers I'll probably end up reading one sooner rather than later.

I never watched the show when it aired first time around and only really got into it during the repeats on E4. Saying that though because of the time it was on I only ever got to see the odd episode here and there, but what little I did see of it I enjoyed so I treated myself to the DVD boxsets. I much prefer watching television shows this way as I can skip out all the advertisements! I do think this particular show is rather addictive though. It would be so easy to sit and watch four or five episodes in a go, so like I said previously I'm going to try and limit it a bit. It may take me a while to get through them all, but never mind as it's all the more to savour, plus I do have the added bonus of being able to look forward to a whole new season to watch...providing I don't cave in and watch Season 7 as soon as it arrives from Amazon rather than waiting until I actually reach that stage in my re-watch.
-
I'm really looking forward to seeing the 7th season, although I do have to admit that I already know what happens, at least to Lorelai and Luke, thanks to YouTube! I just couldn't resist! It will be good to see the rest of it though.
-
Ah ha! After coming across the Gilmore Girls Challenge thread earlier today I knew there must be a thread for the actual show itself somewhere and voila here we are. I hope its okay that I dug up this thread rather than started a new one but I suddenly got the urge to re-watch the series from the very beginning and have not long finished watching the pilot episode. It's been a while since I saw the earlier episodes so it's great looking back at them. I'd actually forgotten that Stars Hollow and in particular Luke's diner were so different in the pilot than from the rest of the series. I have to say I much prefer it in later episodes. I've not seen the seventh and final season yet but have it on pre-order from Amazon so I'm planning on trying to get through as many episodes as I can before its release next month. This is the kind of show I could watch numerous episodes of back-to-back so will have to be careful that I don't get too caught up in it.
