  1. I'm in Scotland, on the West coast, which is beautiful, but damp. (Though not damp today! Beautiful *and* sunny! Whoo hoo!)
  2. I have two shelves of what I suppose are comic books in my wardrobe: Calvin and Hobbes, Tintin, Asterix, Dilbert and The Far Side. I actually started reading early as a result of my parents reading Oor Wullie and The Broons to me every night - one night I just started reading along with my mum...
  3. I have...let's see...three bookcases in my bedroom, four in my wee sitting room, and another at the top of the stairs. Books 'on the shelf' are generally those that I'm most likely to want to read, plus those of authors who are still alive and writing. Then I have two ottomans, also filled with books, one with mostly kids books. Then I have the...hang on a sec...12 at least, boxes in the attic-space off my bedroom. These are almost organised, I can put my hand to most books if I'm looking for them, though single-book authors are a pain to find. It's always a sad day when an author is relegated from 'the shelf' to 'the box', but sometimes I just plain run out of space. In the bookcases themselves, any series is arranged in order, though the authors aren't in alphabetical order, more 'however I can get them to fit best'. Plus the two tall bookcases in the sitting room have my "early 20th century crime fiction collection"...except for the ones that ended up in boxes for lack of space!
  4. I've had my eye on a Kindle for a while, but after having car trouble it'll be another while before I can afford one! I doubt that they'll ever completely replace paper books, but supplement them instead - it'd be great to simply pick up an e-reader when I'm dashing out the house instead of bobbing up and down indecisively in front of my bookcase, wondering what I'll be in the mood to read by lunchtime...
  5. I've been reading a lot less than I used to of late (trouble with my neck, so sitting with my head down is a bad idea) but I still seem to be pretty quick when I get down to it. I saw a book mentioned in a thread yesterday morning, had a notion to read it again, and finished it late last night (318 pages) but I'm not certain exactly how much time I spent on it, and I *know* I skipped a descriptive section...
  6. I have season two of Psych in the DVD player at the moment. (Discovered it about two months ago and am now officially addicted).
  7. Hmmm, I got a news report about a...severe weather warning, or something...odd... Anyway, I probably wouldn't read the books, to be honest. I find it difficult to engage with storylines that are outside 'canon' for some reason - maybe 'cause they don't affect what happens in the show itself. Or something. Can't wait for the season finale on Monday. Hope it's good, the last couple have been less great.
  8. Last Name - the Glee version. (I've three of the albums, I'm afraid to say...!)
  9. I loved her early books, but I feel as if they've tailed off a little in quality, and I'm not sure why... <insert puzzled look here> I've started to get slightly irritated by the Tempe/Ryan storyline, it seems like one step forward and two back all the time - I feel like giving them both a shake...
  10. I loved Frances Hodgson Burnett's books when I was wee, though I think I preferred 'The Secret Garden'. I haven't read 'A Little Princess' for ages...wonder where my copy is...
  11. I wasn't sure whether I'd find Falco under 'Historical' or under 'Crime'... Anyway, has anyone seen the latest Falco novel yet? Nemesis, I think? I don't usually buy books in hardback (cost and space) but I'm truly tempted by this one. The blurb on Amazon mentions something about a recent bereavement, and I'm worried about who might have been killed off...
  12. I love the show, but I've seen about a chapter from the book, and wasn't terribly impressed...wish they'd got a better ghost-writer to be 'Castle'! Still, if I see it second-hand anywhere, there's a good chance I'll pick it up...

    P G Wodehouse

Heh, that's one of my all-time favourites. I was never all that keen on the Jeeves and Wooster series, though The Code of the Woosters was the first Wodehouse I ever read. I tend to enjoy his 'one-off' books better - 'Picadilly Jim' and 'Jill the Reckless' fight to be my favourite.
  14. This is a difficult question! I suppose, though, I've always had a soft spot for The Thirty-Nine Steps - it was the first 'thriller' I ever read...
