Hope it's all right to post pictures. This was taken a couple of weeks ago. Hubby and I were in southern Louisianna. I loved the huge live oak trees and blooming azaleas.
  5. BookThane, I'd havent been to the movies in ten years, until I went to see Avatar. I liked it so much, went to see it again. LOL I was afraid I wouldnt like 3 D, but did! Brida, you are right about this forum. It's addictive! Everyone has been really nice and friendly!
  6. I will check out Amanda Quick books at amazon.com.

I'm always looking for an interesting book. And get most of them at amazon.

I usually buy the used books, but do prefer hardcover when I can get it.

I'll go check out the introduction thread. Thanks.

  7. Thanks BookThane1590!

  8. So nice that you have met several celebrities! That would make a good topic here. Have you ever met a celebrity? I really havent. Though talked to Larry Gatlin(singer) one time and took his picture. I have had some celebrities answer my questions on their blogs and twitter. I was most excited about Jane Fonda posting my question with an answer on her blog.
  9. Hi Mona! I think I'm going to order Always Looking Up, Michael J. Fox. I've always been a fan of his. My Mother has Parkinson's too, but not nearly as severe as Michael. I think you will really enjoy Still Life, by Joy Fielding.
  10. Kell, so excited that YOU HAVE MET HAYLEY MILLS! What a thrill!! I grew watching her movies! Dont hear much about her anymore. So glad to hear that she was nice and took time to spend with you.
  11. Good choice Ned! By the way, I love flute music. Hated those reeds for clarinet!
  12. Brida, I love candy too! Have such a sweet tooth. Cute nickname from your Dad Echo. Ned, I tried to play flute in H.S. band and never could get the hang of it. Switched to clarinet. Let's see about me. I have five kittens on my porch right now. Soooo cute! I've already mentioned this , but I love King of Queens! Kevin James is so cute. Leah too! I'm fairly quiet, soooo the opposite of my husband! Growing up, I loved Hayley Mills. Some of you probably dont even know who she is. LOL:lol:
  13. Very pretty chrysalis and Johnny. I'm using a picture of Eagle flying over water.
  14. I just finished Still Life, by Joy Fielding. It was very interesting. A young woman just waking up after being in coma for two months. She can hear, but otherwise cant move or talk. I may try to read a few more chapters of Wolf Hall. This has been a very challenging book for me.
  15. Vodafan, I hate you! Just kidding! I didnt start to gain weight until I hit 30 years of age.

    Your Age?

    So, I'm not that wise.

    Your Age?

You're right Chrissy, there should be 23 in my age range. I didnt start reading more until about a year ago.
  18. I saw How to Train Your Dragon last week and thought it was really good. Also saw The Last Song, and though reviews have not been good, I really liked it.

    Your Age?

I havent check all the replies, but looks like I'm one of the older ones here. I'll be 60 this July.
  20. I'm also trying to diet. Mostly just cutting out snacks and Ice Cream. Ooshie, that is so strange that you lost your sense of taste for a while. Were you on some sort of medication before that? I lost a lot of my sense of smell after being on a certain antibiotic. It was leaving a horrible taste in my mouth and I quit taking it after two days. It took almost two years to get sense of smell back. Yay, I can smell candles again.
  21. Big Thank You to everyone for the warm welcome here!
  22. I finished Tomato Girl last night. I liked it, but was a very different type book for me. Main charactor is a little 11 year old girl. STILL LIFE by Joy Fielding is next.
  23. Thanks for the welcome CaliLily, Sedge, Jessi, Kimmy619, madcow! madcow, while reading The Forgotten Garden I couldnt wait to get to the end and know all of the secrets, but then hated that I was finished with book. Wanted more.
  24. So far, I've gotten most of my books from amazon. I sometimes buy the used ones. I love to read the book reviews at amazon. I'm thinking about using library now though.
