  1. I didn't get to read much last night, my OH brought home a kitten so I was a bit busy playing chase but still managed a couple of chapters of Shades of Grey.
  2. I don't know how weird I'm being here but does anybody have a bit of a crush on Jasper? I met him yesterday and he had this whole glasses half down the nose thing going on. Am I confusing my enjoyment of his work with a love of his face? It's never happened before, but there's always a first time!
  3. Cookie

    Your Age?

I'm 24, quarter century this year. Weird!
  4. In truth we (OH and me) tend to go to the local independant places, but we do sometimes go to the local beefeater which serves up some nice grub and if we're in the city centre we go to The Big Wok, I'm pretty sure there's one of these in Nottingham as well, does that make it a chain? For fast food it's got to be Burger King or KFC!
  5. I've read this book and didn't find it that disturbing, maybe that's just because I'm immune to the scary stuff now, I don't know. @ Univerze, it's not too bad once you get into it, maybe try again? In truth I can't think of any books that truly disturbed me, not in recent years anyway. I remember when I was younger there was a Goosebumps book about ventrilaquist dummies that freaked me out but I've never liked them anyway!
  6. This series totally took over my life! I was so upset when I finished and realised I'd have to wait until May for the next one!
  7. Cheese and onion wholemeal bread sandwich and coke
  8. Yeah I should have a parcel arrive today, but no doubt it will be too big to put through the letterbox so I will have to go and pick it up tomorrow. It's rubbish, when I order something I want it NOW!
  9. Beef Stew, as long as OH remembers to get the meat oout the freezer...
  10. I'm already half way through Shades of Grey, I could not put it down. Spent the first few chapters completely puzzled but I expected that. It seems a bit darker than his other books but still totally compelling. @BookJumper - What number did you get? Mines 959.
  11. Favourite live band/artist? Alice Cooper put on a really great show. But the Duke Special gig was so up close it was pretty amazing. Band/artist you've seen live the most times? I haven't went to see that many people more than once but I have seen Static X twice. Band/artist you've not yet seen live but would love to? There are too many to name! Band/artist you never had the chance to see? Guns N Roses. Worst live band/artist? I don't think I've went to any rubbish gigs to be honest. Although the time I nearly dropped a drink on Tommy Victor (Prong) when he was drinking with us after the gig because I was so drunk was pretty embarrassing.
  12. My sister reads her books a lot, I was thinking of trying them out. Any ideas on which would be the best for a first timer?
  13. When I was a kid Short Circuit 2 made me cry. I watched The Forgotton Toys with my niece a couple of years ago and I welled up from that, also The Fox and The Hound made me teary too. Apparently I only cry at non-human sad stuff!
  14. Thursday Next, she's just cool. Eric Northman, yum yum yum. Anita Blake, she wouldn't be so great to go to the pub with but if I got into a scrap I would like her to have my back. Jacob Black, one of my favourite warewolves. Rincewind, everyones favourite wizard. I just realised that Thursday's the only proper human in the list!
  15. Yesterday I learnt the origin of the saying "Guild the lily" and today I've forgotten it.
  16. This is why I read too, I feel a sort of sympathy for those that don't read because I can't think of a better way to get a way from yourself even for just a little while.
  17. I finished my Anita Blake book and got further along with Byron. Today I predict that as soon as I get my signed copy of Shades of Gray I will be rushing home to start reading it!
  18. Have nearly finished Anita Blake novel number 15? Blood Noir. Not as bad as the last 3 but not nearly as good as the first few. I needed a little break from Byron, just to give my brain a chance to process what I've been putting in to it!
  19. I can see that for someone who travels a lot these would be handy to have around, but I don't think they could ever replace proper books for me. I have a DS and got the 100 Classic books for that but it just isn't the same for me. I miss the feel and smell of a book. This probably wasn't the best thing to try it on though, the pages just weren't big enough and you constantly had to flip, although it did make the noise of a book turning when you did this, like I said, just wasn't the same.
  20. Same here, I do like quiet but OH can't stand it so there alway's seems to be noise in the house so I've got used to reading whilst ignoring the din! Although some books take too much concentration and I wait for him to be out before trying to read those.
  21. Thats really clever, as long as they stay on!
  22. In no particular order... Disturbed Static X Guns N Roses Nine Inch Nails Coal Chamber
  23. For lunch I had a 6" subway melt with a oaty raison cookie and a fanta. It was yummy.
  24. Oh WOW! What a cool old lady! hehe
