  1. I finished The High Crusade by Poul Anderson (and it was good!) and started Angel Time by Anne Rice. Next I'll borrow a book about a little girl sold by her parents, maybe in China or Hong Kong, I don't remember but when I opened the book I saw that it was well-written... And I have never read a book about a sold girl, although it happens too much frequently, so it will be my next one!
  2. I think I am falling in love with Stephen King right now, from today to infinity and beyond. I can add him to my pantheon of Gods (which includes a lot of musicians and writers). He's in the scary category! I have only read 1408 and Autopsy Room Four, but that's enough to tell me that I will love him. When I'll finish Everything's Eventual or before, I will borrow The Shining! Which book is his best, in your opinion? I want It too.
  3. I just finished the short story about autopsy, and I started 1408. I found that 1+4+8=13 (oh my god I'm sooooo smart ) and I've read 6 pages. Of course there's nothing in the beginning, can't wait to continue!
  4. I found Angel Time by Anne Rice in my municipal bookstore. Since it's so expensive in France, I'm happy to have borrowed it for no money. I don't know if I will like it, but who cares, it's free!
  5. I think that when I read this book I was... 7? I just remember I loved it, especially the "iron man". And her dog. I have to re-read it, it's been ten years and I couldn't tell all the details of the book!
  6. Yes, read the book before, because there's a loooot of details and if you see the movie before you'll think "Oh my God but why is he talking about his gun, we just don't care". If you read the book first, you'll find their weapons the most interesting thing ever. If you want to, I can tell you the things I loved in this book (everyone's gonna say I'm creepy but I don't care, of course there are no spoilers since it's written at the back of the book): they get weapons at the beginning, and sometimes there are unpleasant ones, I wouldn't like to be the one with the boomerang . It's a long book and I love it (that's the best argument for me ) and hm... no, I would spoil!
  7. Heeey it's in my book (of course, that's why you talked about it ). Haunted hotel? I love it. I have to finish a book first and then I'll read the short story about autopsy, and then 1408.
  8. That must mean that you can't be scared with books. That's how it is for me too. Not cool, but if you want to be scared play Silent Hill, maybe. I don't know scary books, like to feel a little thing in my stomach, but I never end the book in my bed and feel strange. What a shame...
  9. About Everything's Eventual? Er..... I have read two pages.
  10. I didn't grow up with Zorro, I don't know if he interests me, but I'll try Eva Luna (isn't it the name of Within Temptation's singer's daughter?) maybe in Spanish, if I find it. Otherwise, in French. (Finding a Spanish book in English? I try to make my practise of English perfect but this would be strange ). According to the interview, she has fallen in love with Zorro's epoch, so yes, it seems to be a good book if she knows everything about where he lived!
  11. I had an extract of an interview of her about Zorro in Spanish (I got a 18/20, so proud ). How is this book? Now I want to read it! And, of course, if it's not her best... which is?
  12. The High Crusade by Poul Anderson is really enjoyable. The more I read, the more it's interesting. Humans who would see the Earth in a shuffle: they would be frightened then amazed. But medieval men try to forget what the see, because it can't be, the Earth isn't round, it's not possible, and at the top of the sky there is... night? Not possible. Really interesting, I loved when the E.T. told them about religion that it was a sort of tribal pantheon, poor priest, he was shocked. I don't know if I like BLUE E.T.s, but I'll try to draw them, they're mean and strange.
  13. When I try to re-read it, my mother tells me to stop it. Maybe it will be better if I re-read it later, when I will have forgotten the story a little... I know the movie by heart, and I'll find the manga as soon as possible!
  14. I tried to find "It" of Stephen King in a bookcase, but I only found Everything's Eventual. I'm not forced to read it from the beginning to the end, I feel less culpable.
  15. I'm at the 50th page of The High Crusade by Poul Anderson, finally I like it, seems to be really interesting. Then I'll read Alone by Lisa Gardner, and finally Lord of the Rings!
  16. It's Japan, you have 42 students in a single room... or in a single island.
  17. I remember writing the names of the characters and adding with a pencil all the details I could find... But after the wave of 42 names, you get used to it. My way to read it was: reading the number of survivors at the end of the chapter, then fancying what could have happened, then reading it.
  18. Can't get into The High Crusade, I think it's because it's in French, thanks to all these English books I'm not used to my own language anymore. And I want to read The Name of the Rose, right now! And I don't know why. I saw the movie last summer, but I don't remember anything. I want this book, I WANT IT.
  19. I don't understand why this has no answer. Battle Royale is one of my favourite book, but the greatest question of my life is: what's the point of the second movie? If anyone has understood it, I give him my heart forever. So, I loved it too, and you're right: you can't help lending it to all your friends! When you try to sum up that book, everyone thinks you're strange, but they have to read it. Now.
  20. I'm French so it won't be the same, in my opinion. It's without order, because I can't say which is my favourite. Harry Potter series - J. K. Rowling (it changes a life when you're young... and I was 7 so it did for me) Battle Royale - Koushun Takami (not as stupid as it seems! This book is huge and with a lot of details, with scary suspense and the most scary concept I've ever read. Maybe not a "Must Read once in your life", but a great experience, in my opinion) The Portrait of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde (I loved it, but maybe the end amazed me so much that I can't forget it ) Germinal - Emile Zola (hey, I must help my country I put it because it's a part of our history, and interesting to understand the suffering of the poor families of the end of the XIXth century. Not funny but powerful) Death on the Nile - Agatha Christie (can't get tired of it! The movie is amazing too, which is rare ) I had once an extract from To Kill a Mockingbird in my English class, but I haven't read it at all. I should think of it, since I see that you take this one frequently!
  21. Well, I only SAW him I think I nearly died when I recognized him, I must have a picture of him... http://i39.tinypic.com/j8z0c6.jpg heeeere it is! I will start The High Crusade by Poul Anderson (that makes me laugh, in French "poule" means "chicken" ) after listening to the 41st symphony of Mozart, I have to learn it by heart for next Friday.
  22. I saw Mathias Malzieu in the Salon du Livre at Paris in 2009, amazing man! An amazing singer and composer.
  23. Fifteen pages left to finish The Other Queen by Philippa Gregory, and then I wanted to start Alone by Lisa Gardner, but I took in my public library The High Crusade by Poul Anderson, so I'll read it first since I don't own it. It's in French, so I'll read it more quickly than Alone.
  24. A Song of Ice and Fire in called, in French, "Le Tr
  25. In France? Oh, no. There was the Harry Potter generation, and then it's the computer generation. Sad but true... I don't know much people who have always a book to read as I do...
