  1. This is just a random game for us list lovers :) Each list will go up to 10. The 10th person to post on the ongoing list will then chose a new topic of things for us to list. For example

    Name 10 funny movie quotes:

    1. 'blah blah blah'

    2-9. 'yadda yadda x8'

    10. 'la la la'

Name 10 animals that look cute.

    Any questions?

    The first list will be:

    Name 10 funny movie quotes:

    1. "There was more than one lobster present at the birth of Jesus?" "Duh!" Love Actually.

  2. Yes, seems every year I start well and dwindle, I'm hoping next year is a lot different to be honest. On another note, I've spent the last four hours re-organising my books now, and I'm about to make a to-be-read list. I'm slightly worried that the total will put me off altogether, haha.

Yay for book organization!! As soon as I can muster up some energy that list above will be alphabetized and sorted a little bit better. Part of the fun of reading is making the lists :D Oh how I love lists! There is a yearly planner at work that is all about list making and I am thinking of picking it up today :D

One of the books I'm most excited about for 2011 is the 4th and final book in the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare- City of Fallen Angels. If you haven't read that series yet DO IT!!!!! Seriously, it's one of the best YA series I've ever read and my second favorite fantasy world (behind Harry Potter.) If I remember correctly it is coming out in April. *takes off pimp hat* :smile2:

  3. Thanks Ben :) Good luck to you as well! It seems like this time every year we make ambitious plans, I'll keep my fingers crossed that we can both follow through with them for 2011! :D

I read some more of Paranormalcy last night and might actually have to buy this one. I'd only borrowed it from work but its one that I'd like to own. *sigh* So much for saving money by borrowing the booksies! (And a big yay for another in the series coming out soon!) :D

  4. Maybe your dad would enjoy some Cormac McCarthy (No Country for Old Men and The Road are both great).

A lot of women I know who say they aren't really big 'readers' seem to enjoy Nora Roberts or Danielle Steele. The main thing with those authors is that they tend write by a certain formula, but the people who enjoy their work seek that because they tend to find that one little 'niche' that gets them reading- so they devour all their stuff. Maybe a writer like that would be good for your mum because if she does enjoy it then she'll have a huge library of that one particular author to pick through, if that makes sense.

Books on list so far: 113

It goes without saying that this list will most likely be growing throughout the year (if I can *hopefully* remember to keep it updated!) Right now I am hoping to finish one last book for 2010- Paranormalcy by Kirsten White, chances are I won't finish it until after the new year, though. So far its a really great story, probably one of the top 3 YA fantasy books I've read this year.

One of the really awesome things about my job is that I can borrow any book anytime I want at the store. I can also borrow the Nook eReaders for a few days at a time too and rent any book I want on it, so this year I'm hoping to get much more reading done than last year! I can officially say that reading is 'research for work', which is pretty awesome. :D

  7. Time to start planning for another year of literary wonder! I don't have much to start off with at the moment, but just wanted to create a new thread for 2011 so that once I'm finished compiling my TBR pile and my goals for the next year I can just come here and start setting things up :) One thing is for sure, I have a MASSIVE TBR pile! Since I've started work at the bookstore it seems like I bring home at least 2-3 more books a week. One of my co-workers told me 'You know you can come to work every day and visit them, right?' It's just not the same. Its like going to a pet rescue center and seeing all those orphans needing a new home and some one on one TLC. (Good thing I don't work in a pet rescue center!)

Below I'll be posting my TBR pile and my wishlist once they're finished. :)

  8. Dude, I like Nigella! ;)

Same here. I think it's her voice. Its very smooth and sensual.

Lately people have been teasing me about having a crush on Gordon Ramsey. Sorry, but I'd totally go there. I also have another 'chef' crush on Alton Brown. He's so nerd sexy!

  9. I got a wonderful surprise at work tonight. They had a huge rack of books they are getting rid of and let us pick over them first. Believe it or not, they are not going back to the publishers or to charity, they are planning on THROWING THEM AWAY! I 'adpoted' 15 new ones plus an advanced reader's copy of Cecelia Ahern's new book The Book of Tomorrow which I plan to start this evening. :) All in all, a very good day for my personal library.
