  1. It has took me a little time to reply to this post, Sorry (Damn computer ) But they are TOTALLY different to normal James patterson Thriller books. In their own right and with a little open mindness they are good books. Even though Book four I did not enjoy. There is a thread about Maximum Ride series on the teens/ kids section. Hope this and the message helps Purple Princess and to sweetipie. (EDIT: Sorry sweetipie I did not notice your comment.)
  2. Oh no!!!! I hope not! I have picked it up fom the library and have to read it! I find it difficult to get into a book if it is a slow start
  3. . have a book that I picked up at the library. There is a table of books each week recommended by the Librarians. The book is called Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrision. It has been given a real postive review by Kelley Armstrong so it might be down your road if you have not read it yet. I have a couple boos to read before hand but I will review when I have read it. CW
  4. Yes I might add myself to the socail group. I have just wrote down the other book titles in my little black wishlist book. Once I have goen trhough my library books and dented my TBR pile I think I will be reading the next one. especially if there is a little more detailing. Thanks again Charm
  5. Sounds like a good book Charm.
  6. I bet that was a lovely view! Sounds a perfect place to read. Haha! I have done that before. Only once. I decided to walk the long way back home afterwards and it decided to pour down with rain. I learnt my lesson
  7. I am sorry if this has already been made into a thread, but I did do a search and i could not see anything So sorry if there has been. My tyre got a puncture yesterday on the M25. So while waiting for the RAC man to come I decided to read my book while I was waiting behind the barrier. This got me thinking.... Where is strangest place you have read to? *Sorry again about my poor grammer.*
  8. Whooo hooo! Well done Bookjumper!
  9. Hey. How are you? Did you get everything done before you moved?

I forgot to ask. Where are you moving back to in the States? Are you excited?

  10. Ok finally back from the hols and did not manage to get much reading done I did however manage to finish Darkly Dreaming Dexter. So, here is my review. Book # 2 - Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay I was recommended this by Charm. Thanks charm From Waterstones Website Dexter Morgan isn't exactly the kind of man you'd bring home to your mum. At heart, he's the perfect gentleman: he has a shy girlfriend, and seems to lead a quiet, normal life bordering on the mundane. Despite the fact that he can't stand the sight of blood, he works as a blood-spatter analyst for the Miami police. But Dexter also has a secret hobby: he is an accomplished serial killer. So far, he's killed 36 people and has never been caught because he knows exactly how to hide the evidence. And while that may lead some people to assume he's not such a nice guy, he tempers his insatiable hunger for brutality by only killing the bad guys. However, Dexter's well-organised life is suddenly disrupted when a second, much more visible serial killer appears in Miami. Intrigued that the other killer favours a style similar to his own, Dexter soon realises that the mysterious new arrival is not simply invading his turf but offering him a direct invitation to 'come out and play'... To be honest I was a little worried I would not be able to shake off the actor who plays Dexter out of my head. I aam not a big fan of the show and this was something I thought might ruin the book for me. But instantly I had my own image of dexter. For some reason Simon Baker (The mentalist) was my Dexter. So me not liking the show was not a problem and I was able to read the book without any missconceptions. I also think because I had only watched a couple episodes I had no pre concieved ideas of what was going to happen or how charactors should be. It is a short book in comparison to other books. But this does not mean that it has left out important factors or detail. Ok it is not incredibly detailed, which for me is not a bad thing. It does not go into graphic detail of each murder. But the Dialoge is amazing and gives you enough atmosphere to have a firmly planted image in your head. The charactor of Dexter is charactorised really well. Also I found Debs to be a great character. I have been told by a friend that on the TV show other characters are more prominant than what they are in the first book. Overall this is a fantastic quick paced book, that brings a different type of book for all us crime fantatics. With the quick pace and the humour it is a must for anyone who wants a quick a light read. But for fans of detailed novels and who like the indepth detail of crime scenes and medical techincal details it may not be for you. It is highly recommended from me and there are a lot of fans on this forum. I will be looking out for the next novels. 9/10 Thanks for the people who recommended it.
  11. Back from my holiday and did not manage to get much reading. But i did manage to finish Darkly dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay. It took longer than normal due to being away on a family holiday and not really having the chance to read while I was away. The only time I was able to read more than two pages was when my tyre got a flat on the M25 and I had to wait for the RAC man behind the crash barrier. I am now reading Genisis by Karin Slaughter. This book has a lot to live up to. I have high expectations and wants. So lets hope it lives up to it.
  12. Haha

    Night mate!

  13. I am totlly with you on the reasons not to be on a social network. i was on them for about six months and I felt clostraphobic. Could not stand it.

I am waiting for my visa etc at the moment. But I am hoping pretty soon. Not holding my breath though. My partner is already there ( He is American) so I might have to resort marrying him.. Heavens forbid!)

It is refreshing to hear someone doing it for fun and not for money or Fame.

I hope you have a good night also.

  21. No I had not heard of her. I definately did not know she inspired bones. i willl be reading more Yeah Charm like many of the other books that I have on my wish list I have been recommended by Charm. I am half way through as my youngest was ill last night and all day I have been packing and finally got my hair done. So I have not read a SINGLE PAGE!!!! But I do love it! I have watched a couple of the TV episodes and did not like it much. but I think that is for me the choice of the actor for Dexter. I have my own dexter in my head ( I have simon Baker - The man as the Mentalist as mine) and this is what is making the books so good. I actaully laugh out loud it is sooo good! I will make sure that I read the other books thank you for your kind words. I hope you like my next reviews. Hopefully I will have some more when I come back from my holiday, more like a short break. Thanks chrissy for your kind words also . I know what you mean about the amount of books to get through. It is too damn easy to reserve books from my library online.
  22. Oh no!! That sucks. I was really looking forward to it.

I hate that when you can only read a few pages at a time and find the beige coloured wall far more interesting!

  23. I am jealous becuase you went to a punk gig. I am in need of some good live gigs. They are few and far between here also and add the fact of two little ones and I don't get to go out much when in England.

As for the friend request. No Worries I will add you right now.

Glad to hear you had a few drinks. A liquid picnic would not be the same if you weren't a bit tipsy, hehe.

  24. psychology. My work in America will be mainly to do with Human right campaigns and work with Hate Crimes.

Human rights is a passion of mine and to get paid for it and be able to get finical and public backing is fantastic!

I am glad to hear HK is amazing. It is a place I have wanted to work.

  25. Thanks Chrissy! Once I am back from my hols I am going to go and seeif I can get the next one from the library. I also have one of latest ones on my TBR pile.
