  5. Like most of us on here after finishing a fantastic book we all struggle with what to pick up next. I tried to read the Jeff somers book but was just not in the zone for it. So while taking back some books to the library I found in the corner of my eye Dearly Devoted Dexter by Jeff Lindsay. Whoo hooo, what better way to get back on the reading wagon!
  6. Thanks Charm! Triptych is a great book and does have to be read before genisis. You will Love Will Trent! It is a really good book
  7. Thats like me I often buy from charity shops. The order f the slaughter books are like this. BLINDSIGHTED (Grant County) KISSCUT (Grant county) A FAINT COLD FEAR (Grant County) INDELIABLE (Grant County) FAITHLESS (Grant County) TRIPTYCH (Will Trent) SKIN PRIVILEGE (Grant county) FRACTURED (will Trent) GENISIS (Offically Grant County but combines Will Trent) Hope that helps.
  8. Yeah totally. Also gives you loads of ideas and an even bigger TBR pile When it comes to slaughter I notice you have them all. I would recommend to start from teh beginning right through the end. Blindsighted is her first and one of her best. I would love to hear what you think. CW
  9. After reading genisis and it was so good (I have wrote a review) I am not disheartened about reading another book and I doubt it be as good. But I am reading something totally different and by a new author for me. The electric church by Jeff Somers.

  11. Ok the review that I had to do straight away. Book #3: Karin Slaughter- Genisis. Synopsis Someone had spent time with her someone well-practised in the art of pain... Three and a half years ago former Grant County medical examiner Sara Linton moved to Atlanta hoping to leave her tragic past behind her. Now working as a doctor in Atlanta's Grady Hospital she is starting to piece her life together. But when a severely wounded young woman is brought in to the emergency room, she finds herself drawn back into a world of violence and terror. The woman has been hit by a car but, naked and brutalised, it's clear that she has been the prey of a twisted mind. When Special Agent Will Trent of the Criminal Investigation Team returns to the scene of the accident, he stumbles on a torture chamber buried deep beneath the earth. And this hidden house of horror reveals a ghastly truth Sara's patient is just the first victim of a sick, sadistic killer. Wrestling the case away from the local police chief, Will and his partner Faith Mitchell find themselves at the centre of a grisly murder hunt. And Sara, Will and Faith each with their own wounds and their own secrets are the only thing that stands between a madman and his next crime I was in two minds about this book prior to reading due to her previous books. Slaughter had to prove and convince me to stay loyal to her. I have all her other books on my bookshelf, all hardbacks and even a signed edition of Indeliable. So this had to be good. AND IT DID NOT LET ME DOWN... SLAUGHTER AT HER BEST!!!! Within thirty pages I was hooked. I was fortunate to have the day off and I sat all day reading and did not budge! The story combines the Grant County series with sara Linton and the Will Trent series! A combination that got me salivating just thinking about it. The crimes are typical Slaughter gruesome, up there with Blindsighted and Kisscut. What Slaughter does for the first half of the book is really emphasise the characters really show off their traits and personalities so you love/ hate them. She had to do this for the benefit of her fans. She even dedicates the book to her readers for sticking by her. (Obviously for the book Skin Privliage) After the half way point, it jumps into action packed mode. In which the storylines twist and turn and you do not know where you are heading, just like Slaughter's books are like. Karin Slaughter at her best. I can't give too much away as I don't want to ruin a single page for the reader. But it leaves you wanting more. I am dying for the next installment and I hope that they keep the Trent/Grant county combination, it could really be something special. For people who have never read some of her books. I would say it is not compulsory to have read previous books but I would recommend it, especially Skin Privaliage, Triptych and maybe even Fractured where faith is introduced. If you don't I don't think that you willl gain much from some of the characters especially Sara. The only bad points and I am only stating these because for some people these are bad points. It states that this is the 7th Grant County series but Sara is not the most prominant character, still a major lead but Will and Faith are the two main characters. I hope that if this combination continues that Sara will become more involved without it becoming two much of a soap opera. The best book I have read all year. I am still buzzing I am waiting for the next one!!! A definate 10/10.
  12. 70 pages until I finish Genisis, IT IS FANTASTIC!!!!! I don't want it to end!!!!
  13. I would recommend it Frankie. It was a really good book.
  14. Hey. I would recommend reading Fractured before reading Genisis for one reason and that is because one of the lead characters Faith is introduced in Fractured. No Lena in it is as it is a Will Trent book. Not one of her best I'll be honest. But I am not sure if that is because I read it straight after Skin Privialage and I was still a little [enter curse word here].

But I would say that that is the only reason to read Fractured and if you don't want to read it I can give you a low down of what happened so you are up to date with it.

as for Genisis!!! It is good.Starting to get more into the killings themselves now. But the character storylines are good.

I would say so far we are progressing back to old slaughter days. Hopefully the ending won't let me down!

Hope to finish it by today as the kids are back at school and I have the day off work.

    Hope you are well Charm.

  15. Well.... *giggles* A lot has happened in Three years. ALOT of the book circles around the characters and their feelings and lives. You can tell that karin Slaughter is doing some major bottom licking. She even dedicates the book to the reader for 'Sticking with her'. AND I am half way through This is not a major spolier but just incase you want to no nothing of the book. I have spoilered it. As for the story of the actual murders. I idea is good so far but I feel at the moment I am half way through it, the main emphasis is on the characters themselves. But I think the empahsis may change now. Oh and I am LOVING the Will Trent/ Sara combination. but
  16. Is that due to not having time, or has your Mojo dissappeared? As for me I have been able to read a lot today and I am so glad. I am reading Karin Slaughter's Genisis really quickly.
  17. Have a fantastic trip wherever you are going. Devil wears Prada is a great book for a long flight or car jouney.
