  9. Firstly my goals 1. Is to read more books than the previous year - last year was 52. 2. To control my spending habits and only order once a month and to keep in under $100 when I do order. 3. To read more books in the Gilmore Challenge - I've only just started to watch the show and I love it 4. To finish some of the series I have going - or at least read what I have of said series not just buy them all in the hopes that I'll love them all. 5. To NOT buy every book in a series just because it is a series - if I don't like it then I don't have to buy them for series sake.
  10. Ash fell from the sky. The Final Empire - Brandon Sanderson
  11. Have started my first read for the new year, it's the first book in the Mistborn series - The final Empire by Brandon Sanderson. I loved the cover and the catcher line on the front "what if the Dark Lord won?" reminded me of Harry Potter so I'm in. Hoping it's good as I've already bought the rest of the series.
  12. I'm just over 100 pages into Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde, and am finding it quite odd and a little confusing to be honest. But seeing as he's one of my favourites I'll carry on. I also went out and bought 7 books that I clearly needed eventhough my TRB pile is over 200 books already!
  13. Describe yourself: I am number four - Pittacur Lore Describe where you currently live:The Infinity Gate Sara Douglass How do you feel:Dragonfly in amber - Diana Gabaldon If you could go anywhere, where would you go: The ruins of Gorlan - John Flanagan Your favorite form of transportation: The graveyard book - Neil Gaiman Your best friend is: The Swan Maiden - Jules Watson You and your friends are: The society of S - Susan Hubbard What's the weather like: A Breath of snow and ashes - Diana Gabaldon You fear: The Necromancer - Michael Scott What is the best advice you have to give:Fire study - Maria V Snyder Thought for the day:The foreshadowing - Celine Kiernan How I would like to die:Arch Enemy - Frank Beddor My soul's present condition: Magic under glass - Jaclyn Dolamore
  14. Just finished reading Magic under glass by Jaclyn Dolamore. Essentially it's a love story and it had me hooked after the first few pages. I really liked this book even though it ended abruptly - I turned the last page and thought 'what no way you can't end there'. Sure enough with some research there is a second book coming in the next year or so. Overall a good, quick little read and I look forward to see what this author has to offer in the future.
  15. I've just finished reading two books - The Hunchback Assignments and The Hunckback Assignments the dark deep by Arthur Slade. Both were fantastic books and really got my mojo back after the epic fail the was The swan Maiden for me. The Hunchback Assignments follow young Modo as he becomes a secret agent to save the great British Empire. Wonderful books with great characters - I can't wait to read the next one.
  16. has anyone read The court of the air or any other books by Stephen hunt? OR has anyone read the Shadows of the apt series by Adrian Tchaikovsky thoughts?
  17. I'm about 100 pages into The court of the air by Stephen Hunt and I'm loving it so far. I like the fact that he doesn't go into major detail about things - it's like he assumes you know what he's on about and gets on with it - it makes a lovely change. I also spent last week re-reading The Tomorrow series by John Marsden and I'm so glad I did - it's still one of the best series I've ever read
  18. I'm starting the final book in the warriors trilogy by N.M.Browne - warriors of Ethandun
  19. is the cast in silence the last one or will there be another one do you think?
  20. has anyone read these by Michelle Sagara (links from fantastic fiction) Chronicles of Elantra 1. Cast in Shadow (2005) 2. Cast in Courtlight (2006) 3. Cast In Secret (2007) 4. Cast In Fury (2008) 5. Cast in Silence (2009) or the 'study' series by Maria V Snyder - I've bought these ones purely because I liked the covers
  21. It was one that he alluded to - he said with all the things going on with somali pirates at the moment it's given him some ideas
  22. Ohh I've read this (was released here 2 weeks ago) it's awesome. I went to see Matthew speak last week and he assured us that we wouldn't have to wait as long for his next book as he has two pretty much written and ready to go.
  23. see you have excellent taste - I'm more of a jack west jnr fan myself:smile2:
  24. Ghost you should try a Matthew Reilly book ice station comes to mind.
  25. Dan gripped Ursula's hand as if like depended on it. Worriors of Camlann
