  1. I've still got the Karen books on my wishlist - I seem to be reading lots of YA fiction at the moment. There's just so much good stuff out there at the moment for young adults it would be a crime not to read it all.
  2. The end of the world was in plain sight. Tsar - Ted Bell
  3. I would love to be Claire from the Outlander series - I'm so in love with Jamie♥ I also wouldn't mind being Artimis Fowl - little criminal mastermind Thursday Next - Book jumping would be awesome Ellie Linton from John Marsden's Tomorrow series - if you haven't read it do. Hermione - just because
  4. I've ordered the whole series so fingers crossed I like them. Oh I just checked out my order and realised that the books I originally started the order for have managed to jump back on my wishlist so weren't ordered - how annoying:irked:
  5. Holey moley! can I come for a visit? I would love to spend some quality time with a collection like that! I also have an actual pile of books here around 60 that haven't been read yet, and foolishly on Monday I decided to incorporate them into the other shelves (series with series all books by the same author together etc) and I must say I liked to better when they were seperate and everything else was just randomly put away.
  6. I've been debating buying the following two series the first is the fever series by Karen Marie Moning. Fever 1. Darkfever (2006) 2. Bloodfever (2007) 3. Faefever (2008) 4. Dreamfever They've been on my fishpond wishlist since I joined here so that leads me to believe someone on here has read them as it's not something I'd normally read. The second series is by Diana Wynne Jones called the Chrestomanci series 1. Charmed Life (1977) 2. The Magicians of Caprona (1980) 3. Witch Week (1982) 4. The Lives of Christopher Chant (1988) 5. Conrad's Fate (2005) 6. The Pinhoe Egg (2006) I was drawn to these after looking up the Howl's castle books of which I saw the cartoon version on telly a few months ago. Was hoping someone had some good/bad reviews on any of the books as I want to place an order soon and will probably need to cut one or the other off as it's too expensive.
  7. Patrick turn that TV off! Finders keepers - Emily Rodda
  8. high on the slopes of a great mountain where no humans dared wander, a solitaty figure settled herself comfortably onto a rock and watched through the trees as the distant plains of Elster danced in the noonday heat. The book of Banden Dark - James Moloney
  9. For another... He wasn't quite sure what the other was, though he had a nasty feeling it had something to do with narrative patterns, whatever the hell they were. Probably, he muttered to himself, a sort of Paisley. Snow white and the seven samurai - Tom Holt

  11. Books Completed : 41 Favourites this year : Six sacred stones - Matthew Reilly Temple - Matthew Reilly Graceling - Kristin Cashore Skulduggery : the faceless ones - Derek Landy Harry potter 6 & 7
  12. I can only read one at a time - I tried reading two at once a long time ago and got so confused I started them both again (one after the other of course).
  13. I've read a few books in one sitting - Harry Potter 6 and 7 comes to mind. More recently I've read most Matthew Reilly books in one go - they're action packed and so fast moving that I'm pretty sure I held my breath for most of it . I've also just read Brother Night in one go but that's only a small book.
  14. Just wondering if anyone knows a good site to get book protectors from? I take books everywhere and I'm sick of all the corners getting mangled in my bag. TIA
  15. 'The second course is coming up! It's roast beef! It's tender and juicy!'
  16. The stable door slammed in the ind, startling Kira. The cry of the marwing - K.S.Nikakis
  17. Some of the best books I've read are because of the cover art. I one of those that will buy anything and everything by an author I've had a good read with - until I find a bad one. Plus if I start a series then 9/10 I'll finish it no matter how much it annoys me. I also read somewhere that if the author's name is bigger than the title of the book to be aware - they're big noting themselves more so than the actual story they have to tell. I also tend to look on the lower shelves as that it where authors with their real names hide ( they haven't changed their last names to move up to eye level on the shelves) and I like to show them some love.
  18. Kansas is not easily impressed. It has seen houses fly and cattle soar. Dandelion Fire - N.D.Wilson

  24. The first one that came to mind was Gone with the wind, as *shock horror* I haven't read and Austen as yet. As for a more recent love story I think that The Outlander series has what it takes - well the first 4 books did anyway. I love the whole Claire and Jamie relationship it's just *sigh*
