  1. I finished Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice last night and now starting Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris.
  2. Started: 04/09/2009 Finished: 14/09/2009 Rating: 10/10 Synopsis: In a darkened room a young man sits telling the macabre and eerie story of his life - the story of a vampire, gifted with eternal life, cursed with an exquisite craving for human blood. Anne Rice's compulsively readable novel is arguably the most celebrated work of vampire fiction since Bram Stoker's Dracula was published in 1897. As the Washington Post said on its first publication, it is a 'thrilling, strikingly original work of the imagination ...sometimes horrible, sometimes beautiful, always unforgettable'. It took me longer to read this book because I knew what happens in it due to watching the film. Therefore I wasn't in a hurry to finish the book but savored every page and took it slowly. However, as it has been years since I watched the film, certain aspects were highlighted in the book that I don't think I realised it was happening in the film. This tale tells of a vampire's immortal life beginning in New Orleans and is eerie, chilling but equally full of passion, love and emotions. Anne Rice's style of writing is completely new to me but the characters are well written and she has a remarkable imagination. I will definitely be reading the remainder of the Vampire Chronicles as I really did enjoy this book.

Well, I hope you enjoyed the book and hope you like the film too. xx

  4. Oh I so want to highlight all your spoilers but I will not.
  5. Great review CW, I definitely wil add the Dexter books to my wish list as well as the others you have suggested. I have just bought Bitten by Kelley Armstrong and also Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris. More to add to my TBR list as well as the James Patterson books on my list. I have also found the online reservation with my library too which I have reserved Blindsighted. I have also bought a few chick lits aswell (I just don't know how I am getting through them all ). But I think now I'll just reserve my books at the library.

Oh definitely wait, I can't wait to hear your reviews on the film though. x

  7. Started: 02/09/2009 Finished: 04/09/2009 Rating: 8/10 Synopsis: Tara Harrington's life seems perfect - a successful career as a life coach, the flashy sports car to match, and a happy home with Glenn. But when her difficult younger sister Emma announces she's pregnant, and refuses to divulge who the father is, suspicions are aroused all round. Tara's best friend Liz's fairytale husband, Eric, suddenly doesn't seem so Prince Charming any more, and their dream move from the city to the country isn't working out as planned. But can Tara help her friend through it? Glamorous London PR girl Natalie has everything she ever wanted - except a husband. And when Tara agrees to coach her in landing the latest 'man of her dreams', the two women soon find they have more in common than either had imagined. Can Tara make it on her own? Will Liz secure her family idyll in the country? And will Natalie finally find love with a man who deserves her? I found this book quite hard to get into. Why? I don't really know. I found that I was reading the book and putting it down to read something else. But finally I decided I had to finish the book once and for all. I have to say that after reading it I was amazed that it turned out an enjoyable read with a few twists here and there. That's what made it for me, the twists. Something I have never came across in a chick lit book before or that I can remember off. I enjoyed how the author brought each of the characters together in some way, by some sort of link. If you decide to read this book and if you are like me (going to the back of the book for a bit of a nosy), then don't. Don't spoil it for yourself like I did. I found out one of the twists before I got to the end of the book. Good read in the end.
  8. Started: 30/08/2009 Finished: 02/09/2009 Rating: 9/10 Synopsis: What if you woke up and your life was perfect? Lexi wakes up in a hospital bed after a car accident, thinking it's 2004 and she's a twenty-five-year old with crooked teeth and a disastrous love life. But, to her disbelief, she learns it's actually 2007 - she's twenty-eight, her teeth are straight, she's the boss of her department - and she's married! To a good-looking millionaire! How on earth did she land the dream life??! She can't believe her luck - especially when she sees her stunning new home. She's sure she'll have a fantastic marriage once she gets to know her husband again. He's drawn up a 'manual of our marriage', which should help. But as she learns more about her new self, chinks start to appear in the perfect life. All her old colleagues hate her. A rival is after her job. Then a dishevelled, sexy guy turns up... and lands a new bombshell. What the **** happened to her? Will she ever remember? And what will happen if she does? I have always enjoyed reading Sophie Kinsella's book and this one didn't disappoint me. I don't read as much chick lit books as I used to but I think one in between the thrillers and vampire books relaxes the mind. Of course, I think most chick lit books are predictable in their story lines and the author really gives the readers what they want but this book was very light hearted and I really enjoyed it. Full of fun, love and laughs and I really enjoyed how the characters developed in Lexi's new perfect world.
  9. I have always kept my books and never thought of parting with them. But now it is getting to the point I have limited space so I have organised the ones that I will never read again and keep the ones that I love. I have started using Green Metropolis, that way I can save a few trees but any books I sell I use the money to buy other books.

Glad you are enjoying but I think the film doesn't do it much justice. x

Hey Sue, how are you getting on with PS I Love You?

  12. Oh, I am subscribing to this thread since catwoman introduced me to this author yesterday. Thanks hun
  13. Well, I have just started watching the first series on FX so I as you know then I haven't been introduced much to Eric properly (well not literally ). So far I am liking Bill and yes there is plenty of bums there. I have been really wanting to read the books for so long and then True Blood started and I was so excited. I have finally bought Dead Until Dark from GreenMetropolis and should be with me any day now. Can't wait.

    Hello

Hi Jessi, welcome to the forum and good luck with uni. x
  15. Shin

Oh, I just realised it is actually your birthday today. I thought I missed it.

  16. Shin

Bout ye yerself! :D Thanks, I am settling in just well. Oh belated Happy Birthday. :sign0072:

  17. Yes, that's what I noticed about joining here. I have picked up so many book ideas. I would normally read what my mum and sister likes and that's all the chick lits ones. Do get me wrong I like them too but I like to read different types of books aswell. My husband doesn't read either. Well, he has started James Herbert's Once months ago but still hasn't finished it.

Well, I moved from the city to were I am living now about 5 years ago and I am only getting into using the library here. I have to admit that it isn't as great as the ones in the city. Any book that I want to read I always have to order. But now I have found that I can reserve them online rather than going to the library itself.

Anyway, I have ordered Blindsighted by Karin Slaughter. :smile2:

  18. Thanks Kimmy

Hi Charm, I see your from Northern Ireland too.

  20. haha, I can't believe I was really commenting on my own page. haha. Thanks for that hun. I was wondering why they weren't going on your comment page. haha

Thanks for the ideas on new authors. I have to admit I have near read any of those books but will sure take a look at them xx

  21. I used to just like chick lit authors such as Marian Keyes, Cecelia Ahern etc. But I have now got into thrillers and I love vampire books. I love Janet Evanovich who writes light hearted books about a bounty hunter. I also like James Patterson. What about you?

  22. I have to admit I have never read a Stephen King book. I have seen his films though. But when I was in my mum's one day recently I found The Cell by Stephen King. It has never been read since I bought it for my dad before he died. So I have that home with me and I will be definitely getting into that. Has anyone read this one?
  23. I didn't even go in to buy The Reader. I went in for another book but seen The Reader and thought, oh the reading circle I'll get that but then came out with three other books. If I could get away with it I would have came out with more than three books though.
  24. Well, I didn't even notice your spelling, I read that as you meant it to sound. haha

  25. I was going to buy this book at the weekend for the reading circle (since I haven't done one yet). But instead I came out with My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult, The Beach House by Jane Green and Champagne Kisses by Amanda Brunker.
