Started The Buried Circle by Jenni Mills last night. It's set in Avebury in 1938 and 2005,and yep the standing stones are leading characters!

I have just finished Swan Song by Robert McGammon
That's my favourite by McCammon.
Half way thru Barry Unsworth's Sacred Hunger set in 1752 about a surgeon's first voyage on an Africa bound slave ship.

Quite enjoyed this adaption and the two leads were very good,but just expected more.

Started The Tenderness Of Wolves by Stef Penney this morning.

The last film I saw Super 8 and give it an 8/10. Enjoyed it,but thought the ending was a bit rushed and it got too sentimental.

Started The Railway Viaduct by Edward Marston before work this morning. Light,but enjoyable reading. Victorian railway-based crime series no.3.

I'm about 150 pages into Room by Emma Donoghue,and I'm really enjoying. At first I was re-reading bits til I tuned in with Jack's 5 yr old viewpoint,but it's been a great read since. I actually bought Room last November,but kept chickening out because of the child's narration,but it makes the story.

Meek's Cut-Off. 7/10. Not a bad film,if a little slow. It's about American settlers who get lost in Oregon 1845. Stars Bruce Greenwood,Michelle Williams & Will Patton.

Will probably finish Awakening by William Horwood tonight-a nature fantasy revolving around the seasons set in modern day England and parallel Hyddenworld. Very good. Room by Emma Donahue could well be next up.

Read about 40 pages of Awakening by William Horwood between 6-7am as even tho it's my day off I couldn't sleep-in,and then another 20 or so sat out in the sun 2 hrs ago.

Yea most new cars have this now, so they are on all the time - I think its a legal requirement on new cars in the UK, and its for safety reasons - no danger of forgetting to put them on at lighting up time or in poor visibility.
Oh right,thanks for the info. I'm not a driver myself,but noticed it in recent months,and thought it must be some cool new trend!

The Help by Kathryn Stockett-looking forward to the movie. Closely followed by Fires In The Dark by Louise Doughty,Three Day Road by Joseph Boyden & Out Stealing Horses by Per Petterson.

Current shows I'm really enjoying are The Hour,In Treatment,Single-Handed & Shooting Stars.
My two favourite all-time shows are Robin Of Sherwood & Hill Street Blues.

Drivers who have their headlights blazing in broad daylight! I've noticed it's quite common,as if it's some kind of new craze! And those who chat away on their mobiles while driving-I saw a nurse doing it earlier today!

Hi everyone. This is kind of a re-introduction as I've been a member for two years,but have stuck mainly to booky topics! I might not have even introduced myself at all! Any way,I'd like to take part in the general chat stuff too. I'm 45,married with one son at college. As well as books I'm into biking,hiking,nature,photography,tv&movies and music. I read right across the genres,and my favourite three books are Watership Down by Richard Adams,Sophie's Choice by William Styron & Regeneration by Pat Barker. Hope to see ya'll in the chat.
