    Book Prices

I noticed this today, there was a book I really wanted but it was only available in the massive size and it irked me no end (mostly because it won't fit in my bag). I also noticed how much it pays to shop around, managed to grab a book I've wanted for ages in The Works for

    Hi

Hello and welcome. Tell us a little more about yourself and most of all enjoy your time here!
  3. FGW is going to be a great book, I can't wait to get my hands on a copy I have been hooked by all his other works. And the man himself is a great talker I met him a few years ago.
  4. In that case you might want to take a look at the Covert One books, they are of much the same ilk and just as well written. To quote Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Covert-One_series
  5. Plus major leauge hottie.... I will admit I did used to have a small crush on Captain Janeway too...
  6. This is true, her role developed quite a lot throughout the show, she learned a lot and I think she taught us all alot too. Plus mmmm silver spandex.

Thank you. It's been a very hard road and the hardest part was admitting there was a problem, there have been a lot of other issues too that have made things worse.

    Aren't I a little ray of sunshine...

Thanks Sue, I am trying to and I guess with time it'll become easier (*it bloody better anyway)

  11. Ahh 7 of 9. No more needs to be said really does it...
  12. Indeed it's a hard pill to swallow but the way a lot of my friends in the US Military see it is that it's bad for unit cohesion (sp) and also when you sign up to serve then you give away most of your rights until the time you're discharged...
  13. Not sure it will be such a great move to be honest. The US Military is a very different culture and while, yes, there will be some benefits for a few people there are going to be a heck of a lot of people who're against it..

  15. Andy McDermot writes books much akin to James Rollins. David Gibbins and James Twining also come to mind and you might want to look at Clive Cussler too. Is it the Sigma Force books you like or the Science expedition type ones?
  16. On reflection it could also be some kind of stock control system so the employees can scan the book instead of having to read the title.

I remember a few years ago when you could buy a standard fiction book (about 450 pages) for
  18. John Ringo's Kildare books. The "hero" is a former Navy SEAL and now malitia leader with a hareem of teenage girls and he is into rape... Quite odd books really.
  19. It looks like some kind of weird strip. But I think the assesment is correct that it's some kind of anti theft device, in fact the book I have just bought has one much akin to that in it. Welcome along by the way.
  20. I'm impressed! Well scared maybe. I think we need some photographic examples of your system Getting back to this whole "Paranormal Romance" thing, as a manly man who likes the occasional bit of vampire fiction I find it really hard (as I have just done) to have to go and stand in the Paranormal Romance section in Smiths (right next to the Mills and Boon and the "adult" books) and look for the new Kelly Armstrong or Laurell K Hamilton. And yep I know I was getting funny looks cos the rest of that section was filled with female teenie goths... And the book I wanted wasn't there, nor in Horror, Sci Fi and Fantasy it was in the well hidden "Vampire Fiction" section, that contained all the same books as the Paranormal Romance section. Also how do they decide what goes where? Something that is Horror in Borders might be Para Romance in Smiths and General Fiction in Waterstones.. It's really got my goat.
  21. Thank you very much! I am working hard to try and remember that, it's early days at the moment and I don't think the message has quite made it's way home but I'm sure it will.

Just saw your website, you and I have very similar interests!

  22. That's not a bad idea. Mind you I will need to get a new phone as mine lacks a camera
  23. I wanted to like it, but couldn't. It reminded me too much of the Anita Blake books....
  24. Ohh, I will have a look in Waterstones later and see if I can pick up a copy of that. Some great suggestions in this thread.
  25. Ghost by John Ringo, I read the whole thing in the early hours of the morning owing to not being able to sleep.
