  1. But it is a big part of why we love him!
  2. Does anyone listen to the Podcast Experts & Intermediates? They had an episode about this book and it really made me want to read it.
  3. Have you by now finished the entire New York Trilogy? I read the three books in one go and i have to say, it was the most intriguing story. But very weird! I'm still not sure about what I read.
  4. What a philosophical question! I had to write an article about this at school, but I still find it very difficult to form an opinion. A classic for me, should be something that lives on, something that just can't be ignored. So new books can also be instant classics (Although I think people throw this term around way too much) But I am aware that most people don't like old books, or even books in general. So classics just become important to a small group of people that are interested. Which might show that all taste is personal and talking about it can feel pretty pointless.
  5. I've only read Lolita, but really liked it. I was suprised that Nabokov felt so 'western'. I would've expected him to be more Russian like Dostoyevsky.
  6. The Eyre Affair is his first book and the first in the series of Thursday Next. So you bought the right one! But it has 4 sequels already made, so prepare yourself for a lot of reading!
  7. As female companions go, i do really like Donna. She was so though on him sometimes! She was kind of refreshing after all the woman lusting after the Doctor. I did feel really sad when he had to say goodbye to her.
  8. I do agree on that. You can't really compare the two. But if you are familair with a story and they change a lot of it, it still stings a bit. But that doens't mean I can't enjoy a good movie off course!
  9. I think it would be interesting. Don't we still need to find out how he becomes the face of Boe?
  10. I also thought it was going to be a whole new story. But he is also writing a new sequel to the Thursday Next series. It should be published in 2010.
  11. I used to read these all the time. They were so exciting!

    Just returning the favor!

    Hi!

  13. I guess we're all book snobs. I do the exact same thing. Sometimes I even get out of hand, that I just need an old version of an old book instead of a newer print. Long live second hand bookstores!
  14. Haha, i also fell for the cover. It just looks too good!
  15. I've stopped watching Harry Potter movies after the third one. The disappointment was too much.

    Dollhouse

It's also not aired in Holland, but I needed to download it. And I've also read that about the 13th episode. It is supposed to be completely different from the rest of the episodes so Fox decided not to air it. It will be on the dvd when it comes out. And as for cancellation, there have been so many rumours. Last time I've heard that the last episode won't be aired, but that this did not mean cancellation. I'm not really sure if i have a favourite. But i really love the relationship between Victor and Sierra. Besides that, I think Topher can be really funny!
  17. I've just seen in and rally liked it. If you view it seperately from the short story it is a very good movie indeed, but I did miss the funny start of the story where Benjamin is born an old grumpy man. That would have made a fun scene!
  18. I heard he was a pretty new actor. He did play a small part in some Police-show. But i have never seen him act. But as the talk turned to the Doctor's companions, who's your favourite? I loved Captain Jack!
  19. I always dislike the feeling that we need to read an love all the old classics. Some of them just aren't that good or just don't interest you!
  20. I really started to dislike the book because of it's length and sometimes dreary sentences. The footnotes were really good, but it was still a tough read. When i finally finished it, i was so happy i read it! The ending was worth everything.
  21. Hmm that's dissapointing. I'll read some of his other books first!
  22. That was an awesome movie indeed! I still haven't watched the Curious Case. But am i the only one who thought this wasn't one of Fitzgeralds best stories?
  23. Has anyone also watched the old Doctor Who? I keep on wondering if i should...
  24. Tallest Man on Earth is very good. A swedish singer/songwriter that has been called the new Bob Dylan many times (Although I don't agree with the comparison). And anyone already familiar with Bon Iver? Skinny Love has turned into my favourite song!
  25. Can't wait!
