I watch those too, and The Girls Next Door.
Its like an alien world.
I think they're just shows that take zero brain power to watch. So after a day of studying or working you can just lose yourself for an hour or two

That means I will never find out what happened at the end of the millennium trilogy after throwing the 3rd book under a car
Life's too short! I used to feel guilty for not finishing a book but these days, if I'm not enjoying it I'll put it down and not feel guilty

How come no one warned me about the violence towards books in the first episode?
I can handle all the sex and violence in the show, but when Sookie's gran picked up a book and folded the pages around the back of the book, I literally covered my eyes (a reflex reaction) and I may have squealed. Man, this is one scary show.
I'm only up to the third episode, so I haven't seen Eric yet, but I'm liking Bill!
That's hilarious!

I've now started Coraline by Neil Gaiman.
I've fancied this book for so long. Would love to hear what you think of it
I managed to read a couple of chapters of Snuff while waiting for my Aunt who was running late this morning. I'm really enjoying it and as is usual with Mr Palahniuk, it's well researched so I'm receiving an education in street gangs and pornography too. Not my usual areas of research but it's quite interesting all the same.

Sorry! If it's any consolation, it's also in my head (replacing Cheryl Cole's new song

Mmmm coffee. And lots of it. And the chocolate chip cookies I made today, I know they're bad for you (I mean, they're sugar and chocolate, mainly), but yumm. Made them cause my brother loves em so, but well, me too.
Bad Renate, no cookie. Oh, wait. Cookies were the problem.
I tried to make cookies for the first time a few months ago and the mixture was a rad too runny. I basically ended up with one huge super cookie
I watch Keeping Up With The Kardashians and hate myself a little bit after watching it
Also America's Next Top Model too

The Wizard of Oz.. Don't ask.
We watch this movie every Christmas without fail!
"We're of to see the Wizard, the wonderful wizard of Oz! We hear he is a whiz of a whiz, if ever a whiz there was....tra la la la la la-la-la-la"

Welcome back Scott!
I'm also a fan of Palahniuk and look forward to hearing what you think of his work.

I haven't heard of this Vladd but I quite like Joanna Lumley. What's it about?

A rewrite of LOTR where Sauron actually shows up
(Even though he's apparently banged up pretty bad)
Ooooh that's a good one!
I'll have to have a think.............
-
Well I've got a few male friends that have read and loved the series
I think you should give them a go and see how you find them.....I think you'll enjoy them!

Mission Impossible. I think it's the third one but I've just started watching it halfway through so not too sure. Jonathan Rhys Meyers is in it so I'm a happy bunny

Yeah I suppose it's pretty similar to a panini but not as posh
I love tomato, basil and mozzerella paninis. There's a little coffee shop in town called Blakes and they sell gorgeous sandwiches including paninis like this
It's too easy to spend a few hours in there eating cake and drinking coffee with a book though
(another guilty pleasure!)

Thanks for the tips Lisa-Marie
A friend of mine swears by squats and she's got a lovely shape.

I keep forgetting what Snuff is about...
Well the blurb on the Waterstone's website says this:
"From the master of literary mayhem and provocation, this is a full-frontal Triple-X novel that goes where no work of fiction has gone before. 'Six hundred dudes. One porn queen. A world record for the ages. A must-have movie for every discerning collector of things erotic'. 'Didn't one of us on purpose set out to make a snuff movie?'
Cassie Wright, porn priestess, intends to cap her legendary career by breaking the world record for serial fornication. On camera with six hundred men, "Snuff" unfolds from the perspectives of Mr 72, Mr 137 and Mr 600, who await their turn on camera in a very crowded green room. This wild, lethally funny and thoroughly researched novel brings the huge yet underacknowledged presence of pornography in contemporary life into the realm of literary fiction at last. Who else but Chuck Palahniuk would dare do such a thing? Who else could do it so well, so unflinchingly and with such an incendiary (you might say) climax?
It's pretty good so far.
I have not read any of Palahniuk's books but would like to...where should i start? is he not classed as horror?I wouldn't say he was horror (in my opinion anyway), probably nearing towards extreme fiction. The way he describes either scenes or actions can make your stomach turn if you're squeamish. I'm sure there's a link to one of his short stories on this thread which is also the opening story in Haunted. You should read it and see what you think

What is a toastie? For a grilled cheese we just butter both sides of the bread, put a piece of cheese in the middle and put it in a saute pan and brown both sides until the cheese is melted and the bread is nice and crispy.
That sounds rather fabulous!
If I'm making toasties I usually toast one side of a slice of bread under the grill, then I turn it over and put grated cheese, tomato ketchup and onion on top of the ungrilled side and grill it until the cheese melts. Then I put another slice of toast on top of that and it's done.
You can buy toasty makers though where you put the ingredients inbetween two slices of bread and it's basically like a Forman grill that closes on top of the sandwich and toasts it until the cheese has melted.

I love tomato sauce...but on dinner??
I love it! But I don't ask for ketchup if I'm eating out for Sunday lunch as apparently it freaks people out! You should try it
Tomato ketchup on mashed potato......yum!!
-
It's not weird, Nicola. I love ketchup too and love it on roast, potatoes, eggs, etc. Sometimes I get looks but I swear half the people over here use ketchup the same way
.
Its true. I have a friend who dips her grilled cheese sandwiches in ketchup.I'm clearly living in the wrong country!
I suppose grilled cheese sandwiches would be like cheese and tomato ketchup toasties?

Don't be jealous, I didn't have chippy because I didn't want to go out again because i've walked about four miles today and my lips are so sore from the freezing weather, so I had cheese and bacon lattice and potato bites!
I don't feel too bad now!
I'm having veggie burgers with salad
-
I love teacakes too.....but only with butter. It's been ages since I last had one actually. I'll have to put that right
I suppose one of my guilty pleasures is to put tomato ketchup on pretty much everything except breakfast (unless of course it's a cooked breakfast.) It really annoys my BF when I put ketchup on a Sunday roast instead of gravy.....apparently it's weird?! I just like ketchup

I just bought Catcher in the Rye last night
I totally love Cather in the Rye
Thinking about it makes me want to read it again.
I've read a few more pages of Snuff by Chuck Palahniuk last night before bed. I've got a quite a bit of work on today and out helping my Aunt choose her wedding dress tomorrow so I'm not sure if I'll have a lot of reading time this weekend
Oooooh also, not sure if I've already mentioned it, I received Storm Front by Jim Butcher in the post the other day.

I'm watching Live From Abbey Road. David Gray is on at the moment....he's amazing!

Unfortunately, thanks to the lack of exercise and a terrible diet, I've managed to gain 2 lbs back this past week.
I plan on beginning my work-out routine again tonight (though a little less foot work because my ankle still isn't 100%).
I'm sure you'll be able to lose it again in no time
Well done Kimmy! 3lbs is brilliant!
Having a goal to work to is good Noll....I'm less inclined to cheat if I have a set goal.
I've been on and off the wagon like a yo-yo these past few weeks but today I've had a super healthy day food-wise and I've just got back from the gym. I'm pretty large in the boob department so instead of running and terrifying folk, I usually go for a fast uphill walk for an hour with arm weights. My goal is to do that 4 times a week but it's really hard with all this uni work to fit it in
The most disturbing work of fiction that you have ever read
in General Fiction
Posted
I've been good and have resisted them all. I really fancy this book now that everyone's talking about how disturbed they were by it. (what does that say about me???
:))
