  1. I know Alcide is in the 3rd series but I am not sure what happens with Bill and Sookie, I think it will happen though, that they will spilt up.

I am so glad you enjoyed 'Club Dead', Sookie does grow on you, she is a great character :D

My only comments are that we need to see a lot more of Eric in season 3 :D

  2. Dead in the Family - Charlaine Harris

From Amazon: If you think your family relationships are complicated, think again: you haven't seen anything like the ones in Bon Temps, Louisiana. Sookie Stackhouse is dealing with a whole host of family problems, ranging from her own kin (a non-human fairy and a telepathic second cousin) demanding a place in her life, to her lover Eric's vampire sire, an ancient being, who arrives with Eric's 'brother' in tow at a most inopportune moment. And Sookie's tracking down a distant relation of her ailing neighbour (and ex), Vampire Bill Compton. In addition to the multitude of family issues complicating her life, the werewolf pack of Shreveport has asked Sookie for a special favour, and since Sookie is an obliging young woman, she agrees. But this favour for the wolves has dire results for Sookie, who is still recovering from the trauma of her abduction during the Fairy War.

My thoughts: I read this book in two days which shows how much I really enjoyed it. Although not as packed with action as the previous books in the series, I liked how the reader got to see another side of Sookie. She isn't as naive as she once was which probably results from all of the bad things that have happened to her in the past. We learn a bit more about Bill too although he isn't really a prominant character in this book. Sookie has a lot more family around which helps to enrich the story. I am still an Eric fan and I love how Sookie's friendship with Pam is developing.

  3. Bel Ami - Guy De Maupassant

From Amazon: Young, attractive and very ambitious, George Duroy, known to his friends as Bel-Ami, is offered a job as a journalist on La Vie francaise and soon makes a great success of his new career. But he also comes face to face with the realities of the corrupt society in which he lives the sleazy colleagues, the manipulative mistresses and wily financiers and swiftly learns to become an arch-seducer, blackmailer and social climber in a world where love is only a means to an end. Written when Maupassant was at the height of his powers, Bel-Ami is a novel of great frankness and cynicism, but it is also infused with the sheer joy of life depicting the scenes and characters of Paris in the belle epoque with wit, sensitivity and humanity.

My thoughts: I really enjoyed this novel. I really loved how the narrator, Duroy describes the rich characters he meets as well as Paris itself. I love the social critique and the story is well paced meaning that I didn't get bored. Definately worth a read. A big thanks to Weave for letting me read it :smile2:

  4. Nope, no chance of improving, just maintaining. She can't even walk around the supermarket as she gets so out of breathe. Drying her hair with her hairdryer even tires her, but at least she has given up now!

The main thing I notice now is that I don't wheeze when I wake up. I used to sound like Darth Vader in the morning :)

  5. We didn't watch last year as it was boring. This year looks a lot better! I like how the tree of temptation is always telling poor moley to p**s off :) I like the mole though, I really hope that he gets to stay in the house. I really don't like the Beyonce wannabe and I'm not too keen on sunshine.

  6. I used to be a 15 a day smoker and I gave up to try and encourage my mum. About a year later, I was still not smoking and my mum had never really tried to give up and she ended up in hospital as she couldn't breathe becuase of her emphysema. She was in hospital over christmas and after seeing all of those people with oxygen masks etc I would honestly never smoke again. Luckily, she hasn't smoked now for about 2 years, but she will only ever get about 40-50% of her lung capacity back at best. I used the inhalater things for about a week and then went cold turkey although I did develop a polo addiction...... My mum eventually gave up with 3 sessions of hypnosis.

Frankie: Is there something healthy you could use as a substitute? I know it isn't the same, but I found that if I kept myself busy the cravings weren't as bad. :)

  7. I went to a Nia class followed by Zumba last night and I am feeling it this morning. Although you don't really move a lot during Nia, it certainly makes you sweat so it must be doing some good.....! I almost died about 20 minutes in to Zumba as I was so tired :D

  8. I'm glad that you enjoying it Frankie.

I hope the weigh-in goes well Madcow, I'm sure that it will.

I did my usual 64 lengths last night and I am off to my Saturday morning Zumba class at 10 followed by some housework. No rest for the wicked!

  9. I'm not doing much this year. Just some runner beans and tomatoes. I do everything in pots as we live ina rented house and the soil has loads of cement and clay in it. If I owned the house, I would probably sort it out

  10.

Kimmy: I'm sooooo happy to hear you enjoyed Zumba!! Yay!!! :D It's so great to find a sports you enjoy doing. It is a really great workout and it makes me sweat like a fountain but that only means that it works. Time just flies by :o

The lady has just started a Saturday class so I went this morning too :( Definately a good (and sweaty) way to start my day.
