  1. My weekend begins properly in about 6 hours, after I finish teaching. Then it's kick back, book open and chill out. Not much else planned.

Hong Kong, eh? What's your story, then? You tell me yours, and I'll tell you mine (when I get back from work...):D

I'm hoping the move went smoothly and that everything is tip-top with you. It's a part of the world I really want to visit. Mum has. She loved it.

  2. I've been keeping my head well below the parapets lately. Funny thing is, if you look closely at my avatar, you can see a great big bulls-eye on top of my shining shaved head...

    I hope you're having a lovely weekend.

  3. Morning/Afternoon! Thought I'd just say that...

  4. Afternoon. I think Danny Wallace is one of my heroes. I loved his book Join Me. I thought he was great in Are You Dave Gorman? as well.

Because of Join Me I still perform random acts of kindness on a Friday (other days as well, if the spirit grabs me!)

Good on ya, mate. Hope you have a splendid weekend.

  5. We really shouldn't!
  6. People who talk to the person pushing the wheelchair (me) instead of the person in the wheelchair (my friend): "And how's he doing?" *pulls sympathetic face* "Why don't you ask him, you ?"

    Newbie!

Hello there...and what a fantastic book you're reading! It has stayed with me for years. Loved it. This is a great place on th'web. You'll love it.

Worry not, for I did the same thing as well. There's a thread about losing your reading mojo. You should join in, mate. Hope you're well.

And I always look for your 'review' posts, as well, lady. They're good and I trust your judgement. So there.

Any problems, mate, let me know and I'll send it to you. I can barely wait for you to read it so I can enthuse wildly about the blessed thing...

Oh my God, Roxi...you will love this book. You'll devour it. There won't be a trace of it left, not even a dessicated husk...
  12. Hang on then. I'll email it to you...

Man alive! It's truly a writing of greatness. Shame the follow up ten years later was so sh**e!
  14. My dear friend, this made me laugh and laugh and laugh. You have cheered me up before clearing off to bed and I thank you. I'm tempted to send you an email of an 'inspiring' picture of Jesus in an unusual place, but sincerely do not wish to offend. Guidance, please.

They are all great. I'm just reading Bad Things. It's already brilliant. I've added more stuff, by the way.
  16. But yet, not this thread as of this time...
  17. Crikey, Kat. You really rattle through some books. I must be some sort of half-witted muddle brain! I'm impressed and slightly intimidated. I hope you're having a good evening.
  18. I'd pay a tenner in your name, mate, the support you give the site. Hope you're tickety-boo.
  19. Crikey! This turned into a popular thread very quickly. Something else that bugs me is when I go to the pub and sit down with my pint and I'm very, very visibly reading my book and someone comes and talks to me. I don't even know these people! I was in my local one evening, reading my book at the bar (where the light is better) when a chap came up and said: "Are you a Doctor, then?" I said in reply, "No. Why do you ask? Does someone need help?" "No, mate," said my new acquaintance. "But you're reading a book, innit? And you've got, like, glasses on." Marvellous.
  20. Oooh my God! I've started reading Bad Things by Michael Marshall and it. Is. Awesome. Thought I'd let you know. You are so going to love this guy.

Hope you're extremely well and happy, mate.

  21. Great review, Kate. I'll go looking for this in the shop when I'm there (as usual) on Saturday. Dammit. I can't keep away. Hope you're very well.
  22. I simply googled and found it. I wanted to find a place where nice people talked about books. I found it. I'd pay more than ten pounds a year to support this site. Thank you, Michelle, for setting it up and making sure everyone behaves themselves.
  23. It's great, my friend. If you don't love it, I'll eat my hat (no pressure there, though, as I have a fair few of them!)

    Hop you're well, Scarlette!

  24. I'm with you there, Janet! Couldn't get to grips with it, at all! Hope you're well.
