  1. Hey, Whitlock. How're things down-under? (I refer, of course, to your location).

  2. Now then, distant travelling lady, how're things going in...erm...Hong Kong, isn't it? It's been a while since I checked in with you so thought I would do that very thing.

Today (and I appreciate that this is very British of me) it is raining, so I have been reading, cooking and recording some new songs. Work is pants, life is busy and I am now a bit bored. Might watch a film or something. Tra-la-laaaaa.

Hmmm....I think I'm taking leave of my senses here, my friend. I shall bid you farewell and look forward to catching up again soon.

    Toodles for now.

  3. Hello Dan. Thought I'd drop by and say 'Yowza!'

So, mission accomplished. Hope you're very well.

  4. I love the guy. My folks went to see him host I'm Sorry, I Haven't A Clue on Thursday - I'm so jealous! By the way, The Secret History is one of my favourite books, you know. I think I put it on my McRecommends thread. Pip pip.
  5. Hey Suzanna. Dean Koontz has a new novel out tomorrow (08.06.09). Guess who's going to the bookshop first thing!

  6. Mac

Ooh, I'm a Dean Koontz fan, too!

  7. He has exceptional taste, but an unfortunate sense of chronology... He must be a grand chap. I loved the twist at the end of Use Of Weapons. It blew me away! Have you tried his contemporary 'normal' novels? There's only one stinker so far (A Song Of Stone), so there's plenty to have a go with.
  8. P.S. Have a great day. :D

  9. I am just about to get my backside into gear and make some lunch before I start some recording. Mmmm....bacon butties....

  10. Ayup. Just dropping by. Hope you're very well.

    Your Age?

Now, you see, that is cool. I couldn't get away with that, because everyone would tut and shake their heads in pity at me. Your dad sounds, like, way book, guy! (See, I try to hard to be down with the kids...)
  12. All is well, really, ta. I love Wildlife Parks. We get to go reasonably regularly at work, because my dudes are very fond of animals. I'm quite lucky doing what I do, even if it's so poorly paid.

I'm glad things are good. :jump:

  13. I did, thank you. I find that a good brew often settles an over-active mind!

    Your Age?

    35. Jeez...I was chatting with Sedge about this yesterday. I'm sure a 'mid-life' crisis is looming on the horizon and I'm wondering whether or not to buy a Porche to outrun it...
  15. Hey Roxi! Just popped in to say 'Hi', that's all. Hope you're very well. :D

  16. Hey Sarah! Hope you're having a lovely weekend. :D

  17. You have some excellent books to rattle through, Dusky. Before you read the Iain M. Banks books, have a go with Consider Phlebas and Use Of Weapons. These introduce you to his Operatic style and The Culture. If you don't like these books, I'll gnaw my own leg off in a fit of pique. Happy days!

I am mostly well, thank you. Yellow is a good colour, don't you think? It brightens up my day, even if I'm feeling amazingly grumpy!

    Enjoy your Sunday!

  19. Mac

Morning Kate. That's all. Hope you're very well.

  20. Mac

Hey there. I hope you're enjoying your time on this site. Be careful that it doesn't swallow you whole! I thought I'd write you your first visitor message, so here it is.

    Have a great Sunday.

  21. Hello there. The Magic Cottage is a beltingly good book, as is Creed. One of the creepiest books I've ever read is The Dark and I loved Moon as well. I have read them all, see. He's very good. The one thing I wasn't keen on in Nobody True was that the chaps that did him over, so to speak, were of middle-eastern origin - and I felt that, at the time of publishing, responsible authors should really avoid writing things that may encourage xenophobic feelings. Eeee....I do go on, sometimes. I need a cup of tea, don't I?!?
  22. Hey Giulia. Just checking you're okay. It sounds like you're having a bit of a rough time, currently. Thinking of you.

Tonnes of vicarious support from me, mate. :friends0:

    Turning 35...

What makes me feel really old is all the time I spend with young people. I'm a Scout leader, an Explorer Scout leader, a Duke of Edinburgh Award supervisor and assessor and I teach kids the drums, bass and guitar.

All this pushes me towards feeling ancient.

  24. Mac

Have you been keeping tabs on my Friday night action?

  25. Mac

Advanced years?!?!? You're less than a year younger than me! I am wounded! Only last night, my bass player in my band (a 19 year old lass) suggested that I wouldn't be able to remember doing my A-levels. Cheeky cow.

I wonder when I became 'old'...jeez...I think I'm beginning to slump a bit...hang on...is that a middle-age crisis I see approaching at a frightening speed? I might have to buy a Porche to escape it...

Something's definitely going on with my self-esteem, though. I keep thinking "Here I am, 35 years old, still looking after adults with learning disabilities, still earning very little, still single (well - divorced) and still not going anywhere".

    I need a pill.

    Or something.

Hope you're not as grumpy as me, my old friend. :D
