I learnt another side of the possible 'theory' as to why JFK was assassinated. Kennedy had started a process with the aim of eventually shifting power away from the Federal Reserve in short. Executive Order 1110 which he signed potentially had the authority to strip the Fed. Reserve Bank of its power to loan money to the United States Federal government at interest. Johnson didn't reverse this order, it was Reagan in '87. Now obviously the bankers would have been in trouble if he'd managed to go through in his ideas. It's compelling reading even if you don't believe the theories!

I have three on the 'go', two for research and reference and another is a casual read atm.

I'm really happy that the only Potter they put in was what I consider the best
Some great titles on there, as wonderful as Narnia is, I wouldn't say it's one of the greatest novels ever written, the story is brilliant but it just lacks that aura of magnificence imo.
If they are going to put two Kings so close together, IT for me is probably one of the best stories ever written no matter what genre, it obliterates The Stand as a whole, they should make room for The Dark Tower book 3, that packs a punch.
Nice to see a Gaiman title on there, that specific one is on my TBR list

Gonna have the remainder of my food before I head shopping tomorrow. Chicken burgers, roast potatoes, veg and stuffing

The Gunslinger is a notoriously dry and fairly slow read until you get towards the end where there is a fantastic piece of dialogue that really starts the wheels of things churning. I would persevere as the next novel is certainly great and the series itself is phenomenal.

I had pasta, cheese and tomatoness

I think it is picking up a little more and making a bit more sense now. Interesting narrative, his use of words and paragraph placement is particularly compelling.

As you are probably aware I didn't like Under The Dome too much and stopped reading about three quarters of the way through, I speed-read through the last 100 or so pages just to finish the darn thing and overall it is a very disappointing journey in an avid King fan's opinion
Great idea, not executed to even half the potential it could have been for me.

Read the first few chapters of The Book Thief

Because of you lot it's hijacked my reading list!

Sounds promising, the narrative is very odd and jumpy so far, but it's interesting for sure

Bouncing leprechauns would make a good film. My landlord is Irish and reminds me of a leprechaun, and that's not because he has an Irish accent, he just looks like one
I am watching the birds hopping and frolicking amongst the lawn of the garden and the bare branches of the tree

Poltergeist is an interesting film.
Secret Window is a cool film too.

Cool! I always look forward to reading an evocative tale

I have thieved (borrowed
) this from the library to have a read. I remember it being talked about and referenced quite a bit across the odd thread with some obvious affection, so wanted to explore

Cheese and onion pasties, Galaxy milkshake

Hung out in the library for a couple of hours this afternoon and came back with three new books to add
The Book Thief - Markus Zusak
Everything's Eventual - Stephen King
The Cosmic Puppets - Philip K Dick
Looking forward to getting a move on and mixing these in with the TBR tower

Harry Potter is definitely a series where reading out of order cannot really compensate at all for the whole. You can get away with it by reading Chamber or Azkaban first, but not when things begin to turn into a more obscure area through and after Goblet.
-
I'll just go with the theme and fly my broom of course.
Yeah, I think should definitely start from the beginning if you want to get the right feel for the story, especially with Harry Potter, as soon as i finished Azkaban, which at the time was the only one my school library had in, I bought the first two and then when Goblet came out, that one and I was really thankful I did.
