  1. I confess to not having read Lord of the Flies. I was going to make the attempt until my brother let me know the whole plot. I was 15 at the time and I chickened out. I still won't read it and I'm in my 30s. I have read The Handmaiden's Tale and Flowers in the Attic as well as Clockwork Orange. I got queasy at Dean Kontz's Demon Seed and The Island of Doctor Moreau (by Jules Verne I think) makes me wonder at humanity.

  2. I usually think of a classic as something that was written before World War I, but I also use the term to describe something that has had a major impact. For example, I would consider anything by Hemingway to be a classic because of his impact on American literature, even though all of his books were published after World War I.

I'd have to agree with this.

  3. This was a sad story for me. The link between Frankenstein and the monster reminded me a bit about the role of parent and that of a child. Things went badly wrong just because of Frankenstein's curiosity and maybe envy that women carry children. He could have just as easily seen the wonder of life by fathering a child the normal way.

  4. Anyone ever read these? Some tyranical women ruling everyone taking special interest in abusing men phyiscally, emotionally and sexually. That's not to say that Janelle in the first book Daughter of the Blood does not have a hard time as well. Saetan as a father figure was interesting as is the notion of hell in these stories.
