  1. Well, I've watched all the extras and listened to the commentary now, as well as being on my third viewing of the film! I liked the commentary a lot, much funnier and more interesting than I was expecting, and I'm fascinated by the technicalities of film making, so to have the editor (who was very personable and entertaining in his own right) talking with the director was very enlightening to me. But, I really wanted to hear from Rob, Kristen and Taylor together with Chris. I think the only mistake with the deleted scenes was the "driving home from party" scene which I think would have been right. I don't think it was too long and it adds to the explanation of Edward's decision to leave. The extras I liked most (outside of the commentary) were "fandimonium" and "interview with the volturi" but on the whole, I was slightly underwhelmed by the extras in general.
  2. I was a week behind getting the New Moon DVD, so I watched it last night, and again this morning, and am now watching it with the commentary so that I've caught up to every else! (I am sewing and ironing at the same time as watching/listening so I don't feel too guilty )
  3. Toast with lemon curd
  4. Sting. Lemon curd or marmalade?
  5. Beach. Laurel or Hardy?
  6. Thunderstorm. Katherine Hepburn or Audrey Hepburn?
  7. The extras on the New Moon DVD. i would have watched the film, but my neighbour has been chiselling and hammering all day, and I don't want to ruin my first viewing since I saw it at the cinemal!
  8. Bowling. Daleks or Cybermen?
  9. Great review, Poppy. I'm glad you liked the so much, as I thoroughly enjoyed it as well and it's always good when someone else has the same feeling about a book.
  10. Personally, I'm not bothered by the classic series, so I would say start with the first of the new series in 2005 with Rose. If you've never watched Doctor Who before, this isn't too bad an idea, as you get to understand the concepts of the character and the programme, and then if you do like it, you can go back and watch the classic series as well to see if you enjoy them too.
  11. I haven't watched the interview from last night yet, but will do so tonight. Having managed to stay as spoiler free as possible, I'm happy to watch the trailers and clips being shown now its so close, but I'm still going to avoid the big news sites, forums and as much story spoilerage as possible. But, like you Raven, whenever I see the trailer or even any mention of it now, I look like this or this Can't wait!!!
  12. Chris Moyles' Quiz Night
  13. It does look lovely, Inver, but the back stitch would drive me mad!
  14. A packet of Salt'n'Shake crisps
  15. Well, I'm an exception to your theory, Raven! I pretty lucking that I can remember the plot of most of the books I've read going back for years, and last year I definitely whizzed through books at a rate of knots! In fact, I'm sometimes amazed at how good my memory of books is, right down to usually being able to find a quote or section quickly within a book I haven't read for years. I was thinking about a book I read the other day, thinking I must have only read within the last couple of years, as I remembered clearly a particular plot thread, but when I looked it up, I realised it was at least two years before I started keeping a record of my reading, so must have been about 2004!
  16. Circles Suitcase or Rucksack?
  17. Wii History or Geography?
  18. I've watched The Book Show since the beginning - I think it's in its third or fourth series now. I think you can still watch nearly all of the old stuff on YouTube, as they have a video of all the old interviews on there.
  19. I don't listen to any story based, but I did start a thread about book TV, radio and podcasts here. Having said I don't listen to any story based podcasts, I did listen to the wonderful Sir Ian McKellan reading Wolf Brother by Michelle Paver, which audible.co.uk put out as a free podcast in 14 episodes, and looking at iTunes, it's still available there.
  20. Me too! I knew I'd find you in this thread
  21. I've read a few very good fictionalised accounts of history, my two favourites being The Master by Colm Toibin and Arthur & George by Julian Barnes. I think they require so much research but are more entertaining than a straight historical account of the people and events.
  22. I'm pretty sure he does take his shirt off at that point in the book too, as I think I remember when I watched the film at the cinema it was one of the details from the books I recognised.
