Holidays are perfect for boosting reading! Hope you have a lovely time and get the time you'd like for reading and writing

I saw Matt's tweets earlier and your reply Michelle. I haven't read the book, but like you've said, it seems both on here and on Twitter, I've seen others say they'd read it that he was anti-meds too, and I thought there were some great tweets from people explaining why it's important to talk to your doctor and decide the best treatment for you, and if that is medication, then that's right for you. Everyone is individual and should be able to get the treatment they need whatever form it takes. I've also seen you tweet about Starborn, so fingers crossed it's the thing to rejuvenate your mojo!

Blimey Anna, Say You’re One of Them sounds like a tough read. Congratulations on finishing it, I'm not sure I could even start it, if I'm honest.

Someone I follow on Twitter who reads a lot, has recently read Academy Street and she loved it. I'm not usually a fan of character driven books, but having just read one which was 404 pages long that I found completely engaging, 179 pages sounds manageable, so I might try it as you've both recommended it.

It was probably my least successful read-a-thon ever in terms of page count, but I was reading a very wordy, serious book, so I was pleased with the progress I did make anyway. I can't always make the time for the read-a-thon anyway, but I can only do longer ones on bank holiday weekends, as I'm usually at work.

Shall I just give you direct access to my wish list so that you can add books as you read them? It would save me time

Proposal to remove import restrictions on books in Australia
chesilbeach posted a topic in Book News
http://www.theguardian.com/books/australia-books-blog/2015/apr/07/removing-import-restrictions-would-impact-australian-authors-say-publishers I can only base my opinion on this article as it's the first I've read of it, but if the proposed changes go ahead, I can't see how Australian publishers could survive? I'm always curious about how different countries laws affect publishing and book selling, so I thought it was a really interesting article to read, and thought I'd share it here. -
For some reason, I had it in my head that this was the last series of TVD … I thought I read it on IMDB at some point, but maybe it was in one of the news articles and from an unreliable source. Hmmm… I'd been keeping going with it on the assumption that it was the last series, and I wanted to see it through to the end. It's not that it's bad, but as we've discussed elsewhere, it's just become too unbelievable (I know it's all unbelievable, but you know what I mean! ) and I'm so fed up with characters supposedly dying forever, and then coming back to life again. Funnily enough, I'm much happier with The Originals too … it's the one I look forward to each week, far more than TVD

I'm three quarters of the way through Celia. I did have a look at the new monthly deal books on Kindle, but I think I'm in a place where I want to try and work through my own books without adding any more, and I think I'd have to have a completely burning desire to want a book before I bought one, even on offer.

It was cold again first thing this morning (one of my colleagues even had a thin layer of ice on his car!) but it's warm and sunny again now, and a lovely spring day.
-
I didn't bother in the end … it's funny that I bought it for Kay, but it's just not jumping out at me for myself to read at the moment. It's the first Tuesday in the month so all the new Monthly deals are up on the site now. Had a look through, but nothing tempting again, although a few books I've already read in there, so there might be temptations for other people!

That sounds very intriguing, Janet and I can imagine the cover jumps out at you from the midst of all the bright colours on the display tables. Look forward to seeing what you make of it.

Teeny tiny bunting! It sounds like we've all got the same philosophy with the book jars, and just picking when there's nothing in particular we're desperate to read. I can't believe you've only bought 11 books in three months … when I think back to a few years ago, it's incomparable.

We're having asparagus tart with salad and new potatoes.

The basic premise is that the weekend of the first Friday of each month is the read-a-thon weekend from Friday to Sunday. During that weekend, if you can take part, you set aside as much time as you have to reading, and record as much or as little information as you'd like here. I can't always take part, but when I do, I try to record how much time I spend reading, how many pages I've read, and any books I finish. It's just a way of having a virtual group reading session, where people are all reading at the same time, although not necessarily the same books.

The coastline looks stunning, Noll! I've had a very indulgent weekend, mostly sewing, a bit of reading, a bit of baking … basically just relaxing. Back to work tomorrow, but a week starting on Tuesday means the weekend will be here again before I know it!
-
I'm mulling it over at the moment … not sure whether I want to read it or not.
-
I haven't done much reading, but I have managed a few more chapters of Celia … I'm not always a fan of character driven books, but the writing is so good and it's set near where I used to live so I'm finding it compelling.
-
I'm glad you liked it even if you can't remember it well, but from what you've said, it sounds right up my street. It's on my wish list already, as it's a Persephone book, but if it wasn't I'd have added it based on "a sort of comedy of manners and class" alone!

Watched When Harry Met Sally last night, after Kylie mentioned it the other day, I've been thinking about watching it again as it had been ages since I'd last seen it. Loved it.
-
It's been a beautiful day today! A bit of a cold start, but the sun's been out all day, and a pleasantly warm 17ºC this afternoon.

The Vampire Diaries

Didn't manage any more reading yesterday, but hoping to fit in a bit today, although I'm all geared up for my sewing, so it'll only be when I need a break from the sewing machine.

We watched Good Vibrations last night - fantastic film, we thoroughly enjoyed it!

It's not raining and reasonably bright at the moment, although there are plenty of clouds around. Should stay dry for the rest of the weekend, and the wind has died down a lot now.
