  1. Finished "Help Yourself: How You Can Find Hope, Courage and Happiness" by Dave Pelzer. Book Description (amazon.com) How you can find hope, courage and happiness The Inspiring Conclusion to Dave Pelzer’s Life Story, which has been on the Sunday Times’ bestseller list for 15 weeks and counting! This inspiring conclusion to Dave Pelzer’s multi-million copy bestselling titles takes Dave’s story up to the present and for the first time offers the invaluable life lessons he learned along the way. A Child Called It, The Lost Boy, A Man Named Dave and Help Yourself have all been on the non-fiction bestsellers since UK publication. There should be a huge audience for this book in paperback. Dave Pelzer’s case of child abuse was one of the worst recorded cases in US history, yet he overcame his past to become the best he could be. Help Yourself weaves in stories from Pelzer’s own experiences with the principles he has discovered on how to survive difficulty and embrace challenges as an opportunity for growth. Personal Note The only reason why I read this book was because I’ve read Dave Pelzer’s books and I was curious about this one. I wasn’t disappointed, despite the fact that I don’t normally read these types of books. It’s an inspiring work that makes you see things different. It contained so many real life examples that I found it impossible not to remain with something by the end of it. It was worth the read, even though I’m still not a fan of the genre.
  2. I actually burst in laughter every time Sam says: OMG! They put this stupid long break in season 5 so when they restarted it last week, I had completely forgotten what had happened before!
  3. I've been rewatching Supernatural lately (one episode before bed... takes a lot of me not to watch more!) and I got to the episode with the painting (season 1). Had to share... I always laugh so hard at this scene with Sam: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaFlMGAh2tg
  4. I was going to even put that in my own reply Shhh
  5. I got "Still Me" by Christopher Reeve in the mail today
  6. I grew up with The Beatles... everyone in my family is a huge fan. When I was little, I had this cassette tape from my brother, with The Beatles, and I'd put it in my walkman and fell asleep to it every night
  7. It's an odd combination for me and I chose THE top 5, not based on what I'm listening just now. Besides the first 2 which will always have the top, the rest are in no particular order. 1) Jack's Mannequin 2) Something Corporate 3) The Beatles 4) Regina Spektor 5) Marilyn Manson
  8. This will sound cliche but, reading is a form of escape I guess. For those hours in which I read, I feel what the characters feel if that makes sense, I can ignore everything going on around me. I also read to learn as I read specialized books too.
  9. Any book in Romanian, I get from the bookshop. Once in a while I'll order the books in English (if I can't find them at the two bookshops I know that sell only books in English) and I also use the British Council library for that.
  10. Fahrenheit 415 was such a good book! I keep meaning to re-read it.
  11. For me it's an easy choice: definitely love Happy Potter. I read Twilight last year and I couldn't get into it that much. Sure, I finished the books, but they didn't really remain in my mind for long. Harry Potter on the other hand, I've been reading them since I was 13 (I'm 24, soon to be 25!) and I still love them just as much as I did at the beginning. I find the story better written (not saying it doesn't have its flaws), the characters much better developed. I can't really compare the two.
  12. Hey, welcome to BCF!

  23. I am finally almost done with Lost Dogs and Lonely Hearts. It's taken me way too long and it's a cute book! Life is too busy though... I knew reading time would be less after the holiday.
  24. I need to finish watching the last season! I did this marathon, all I watched for weeks was Gilmore Girls, so by the time I got to season 7 I was a bit burnout. Never finished it... I think it's time!
