I read that this year too, very good book. Beautifully written.

I think it would be a good idea to move the read-a-thon in January. At work at the moment so will do my own stats and look at yours properly later
-
Didn't have such a good reading day today, I only read 122 pages of The Last of the Spirits by Chris Priestley. Read-a-Thon Totals: Read 3 full books, finished a 4th and started a 5th. Read 725 pages. I'm happy enough with that!

Yestrday (Day 2) I read: 177 pages (and completion) of Slade House by David Mitchel. 256 pages (and completion) of Crenshaw by Katherine Applegate Total: 603 pages

No, and I didn't like Dahl as a kid. Walliams was on the Late Late Toy Show here last week, and him/the host/the kids were talking about his newest book, Grandpa's Great Escape, and it *sounded* like a great read, so I wanted to give him a go

Sounds great to me, plentiful supply of options

That sounds delicious Gaia! Enjoy! Tonight I'm going to see Jimmy Carr, never seen him before but I've always liked him. It's my friend's birthday so a few of us are going. Ireland is currently submerged as a result of a storm though, so getting into town without blowing over to England will be interesting.

I finished Slade House by David Mitchell. A lot about it that I liked, a bit too much telling rather than showing towards the end. Next up will be one of several kids books, I think - Grandpa's Great Escape by David Walliams, Crenshaw by Katherine Applegate, The Last of the Spirits by Chris Priestley or The Accidental Afterlife of Thomas Marsden by Emma Trevayne. Whatever I order I read them in, they're my planned reading for the remainder of the weekend for the read-a-thon

Day 1 results: 27 pages (and completion) of The Enemy by Charlie Higson 82 pages (and completion) of short Mind Games sequel Dangerous Games by Teri Terry 61 pages of Slade House by David Mitchell Total: 170 pages. Today I am aiming to finish Slade House and start a couple of Young Adult/Childrens books. Going for a high completion number After this read-a-thon I'm totally going to do a tally of my year of Read-A-Thonning and see how much I did, what month was best, highest scores etc (lol!)

Slade House sounds fantastic - I have two books by him sitting at home but I've never gotten around to reading them because I expected them to be quite dense and demanding. This sounds like it will be a good one to give me a sense of his writing and see if I want to tackle the other two. As a side note... the fact that you and Alan buy books to read aloud to each other is absolutely, utterly adoreable.

I watched a indie sci-fi film called Coherence. Great film in a similar vein to Primer, which is one of my favourites.

Yikes, that sounds stressful Gaia The Coca-Cola Christmas truck is touring around Ireland (I think for the first time ever, it's done the UK for a while now) - and today it's in Cork! I've nobody to go with coz nobody is interested so I suppose I'll have to go by myself and take a selfie rather than a proper picture
-
I probably should have put some thought yesterday into what to read over the weekend. Whoops. I've read 27 pages anyway so far and finished off a book so at least I've started!
-
I do too but I tend to fall asleep very easily Finished The Enemy by Charlie Higson. Not sure what I'm going to read next, must see what's on my tablet.

I think there might have been a couple of people who felt that way. I felt that way when he was arguing points in his book on Twitter. Just unfollowed him in the end. Yep, I believe it was her -

It does, and I'm intrigued!
-
Thanks! And thank you for the (indirect) recommendation - I really want to read all his other novels, but I think only Rabbit Back and Where The Trains Turn have been translated?
-
Oooh, honestly I've never given any thought to his other work. Grabbed that!
-
I remember, and I can see why. But there's a lot I like about it. I don't like that

I'd really like to join in, as I want to catch up on my reading and I didn't participate in the last read-a-thon. Not sure what my plans for the weekend are yet, though, so I'll see.
