  1. I always use amazon - its still cheaper to buy books including shipping than it is to buy them in the bookshops here. Often I get a like-new book for 1p on amazon, thats only about €4.10 including shipping, when I could pay up to €10 here for the book alone.
  2. He is the lead singer, hes awesome. I wrote in the 5 facts thread 5 facts about men i love in music Johnny has a great voice, plays guitar, writes the lyrics, is very quiet but intelligent, loves art, and is very self conscious. All of which makes him adoreable and hot at the same time, which is exactly how I like my men
  3. I'm going to to 'themed' five facts about me. Todays theme: MEN IN MUSIC. (As inspired by Nici's NKOTB photo thread.) These are all opinions I strongly hold. 1. Johnny Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls is the sexiest man on earth. 2. Slash was recently knocked off that position, which he had maintained for a whopping 8.5 years. Then he got too old. Sorry Slash. 3. My guilty pleasures include Danny Jones from McFly (I so would) and Rhydian. 4. Any guy who can sing or play guitar is hot while doing so - including my best friend, which doesn't impress his girlfriend very much. 5. I know Mika is probably gay, but he's hot anyway. I know this makes me weird; deal with it.
  4. Probably just soup and a sandwich tonight.
  5. Because Johnny Rzeznik is sex on legs with a guitar. I am not going to be in the same room as Johnny Rzeznik and NOT as close as humanly possible. I got his guitar picky
  6. I've read TKAM and Dorian Gray, I have three Austen books I've yet to read (And I really want to read Pride and Prejudice, I love these kindsa books, what's stopping me!?!) and I've never read any Charles Dickens! I have A Christmas Carol in my TBR pile this year though.
  7. Awwwhhh thats awesome Nici!! Its great to be that close to a band - anytime I go to the Goo Goo Dolls I ALWAYS shove my way up front
  8. Haha, thank you. I'm still hoping by some miracle I'll pull a Harry Potter outta my ass but it's looking less and less likely. Plus my plot wasn't very original anyway. (It was original when I was 12!!! Then Buffy did an episode years later with the very same plot. I was gutted.)

You're up quite late tonight! Being all rebellious coz its Saturday eh?

  9. They're very interesting.

English: I hate studying it. When I was a kid I wanted to be a writer. My plan was to pull a J. K. Rowling while I was in college, so I'd never have to get a job. Unfortunately, I lost my novel draft to an Epic Laptop Death about 3 years ago, so that was the end of that chapter.

Philosophy: I took this on secondary to english, but it's actually come out on top. I find it wee easy, even though most don't. I'm just mentally geared towards working out philosophy. So I figure it's what I should do.

As for lecturing to homronal students: its quite simple. They can do the work and get their degrees, or they can doodle on their books and fail. It makes no odds to me. :D

  10. Posted on my page again

I'm in UCC (University College Cork) and I'm studying the Arts - doing a joint honours degree in Philosophy and English Literature. I like Philosophy more, so I'm probably going to do further study in that and aim for lecturing or some such. Any excuse not to get a real job

  11. Its about a couple, one of whom has a genetic disorder that makes him jump backwards and forwards in time, basically. Sounds silly but the writing style is amaaaaazing.

Lexie also loves Kelley Armstrong, but I'm trying to stay away from the vampires for a while, Twilight was enough  and you'd hate twilight. You really would. Don't bother til it's on sale.

Dorian Gray is an entirely other kettle of fish. Its a philosophical artwork. Its absolutely brilliant! :D

  12. Yeah I reckon it probably will pick up towards the end. Its just the middle is a bit slow. Reading 'The Time Traveller's Wife' at the moment, on Lexie's recommedation, and so far it is BRILLIANT!

  13. I have no good titles anyway I'm afraid, mine's plagarised from the words of Tim Minchin. 'And he keeps on writing songs the world will never hear, and though it sounds absurd he just keeps writing, and he will never be deterred - but he'll always be a fudgeed up little try-hard wannabe rock n' roll nerd!'

And don't buy the graveyard book! It started out well but I'm half way through and it's dragging. I actually gave up on it, and I *love* Neil Gaiman.

  14. Haha which review did you read? They're all different lengths! (Thread has short, BCF has a bit more, my blog has novel-length ) But thank you all the same! I emailed the author last night and was chatting a bit - he's lovely! And working on a sequel to the book I read :D

And ooooh yess, the spinal op! Sorreh, I'm terribly forgetful!

    :friends0: Poor thing :(

I think the title-changing is relative to post count. Go into 'details' on your CP, and scroll down a tad to 'optional info.' It should be the first thing there. I think i got it when I hit 1000 posts.

  15. I think I would have a severe problem with ANYTHING I saw come out of someone's nose. Dear god that's revolting.
  16. *clicks "view conversation"*

YUSS! I *can* remember to do it! But yes, I am, indeed, a tit. Maybe I should make that my title. 'Roxi S.C. - BCF Reviewer - Tit.'

I posted the review in my thread and on my blog. And on the BCF blog, obviously. Theres links to all of them in my signature, 'blog' 'reviews (BCF)' and '2009 A-Z' goes to my thread.

Your back hurts coz you were walking around?? Humans are dvsigned to walk around you know... I'm kidding, I'm kidding! Don't throw things :(

The books I bought are in the 'what books came into your home' thread but prolly a couple pages back now, so:

    Middlesex - J. Eugenides

    Angelina's Children - A. Ferney

The Book Of Lost Things - John Connolly

The Sunday Philosophy Club - Alexander McCall Smith

    :D

  17. Okay seriously. I did it again! I posted on my own profile! If I ever don't reply, come check my profile, coz I've probably replied to you in the wrong place!

    I said:

I bought 18 euro worth of books (including shipping, excluding shipping it was about 2 euro haha) the other day. I cannot WAIT until I get them. Its been ages since I bought and read a book I didn't know much about!! Otherwise, I'm good. Completed and reviewed my first review book, second is on its way. Other than that, taking it easy.

    Why are you sore??

  18. Lol I'm pretty good.

My pasta binge ended at last! 8 days in a row. Thats gotta be some kinda record. I actually couldn't eat it all today, I was so sick of it i could practicaly hear my stomach going, 'no more! please, no more!'

I had nothing else for dinner though, so I ate some bread with mayo

    How're you doing?

  19. Good eve', good sir.

  20. Oh right. I loved lasagne all along, I just couldn't eat other pasta. I still despise spaghetti. Ugh.
  21. That would also be satisfactory at this moment in time.
  22. Ahahah you legend!!! I *live* off that kinda thing Always Big Al's though for the burgers though, quality stuff
  23. everything else got one vote, and they're listed in order of what was said. so its not really a 'top 50' it'd just be the whole list in order.
  24. Finally got a chance to update this thread. Both the 2008 and 2009 top 20s are up in the first post, side by side for comparion.
